EIGHTY SIX YEARS AGO, plus nine months in my mother’s womb, I incarnated on this beautiful planet. I came from the Heavenly Realms of Light, as we all did, to play my part in the human drama unfolding on Earth. The world was about to be plunged into a state of war in less than two years. The date was May 20, 1940. The place was Port Arthur Texas down on the gulf coast where the Sabine River pours her waters into the Gulf of Mexico.
On December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan launched a surprise attack on the US Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor in Oahu, Hawaii, killing over 1200 Americans and destroying or damaging 20 naval vessels. It was a day that has lived “in infamy,” as President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared it would.
We all incarnated on Earth to bring our divine presence, our spirit, our Self into the world at specific times to serve a specific purpose. I came during the warring years of America and of the world. My purpose came to me through my devout Catholic parents and my years serving as an “altar boy” and attendance at a Catholic school staffed by the Christian Brothers. Every year they held what was called “vocation week” when students were presented with various options to consider. The priesthood was always my choice by attraction.
In my second year, our dad was working for Standard Brass in Southeast Texas as a machinist. I was the third of eight siblings born between 1937 and 1954. Every night we prayed together for world peace. For our Catholic parents and family, praying for world peace was central to our life’s purpose and routine. Dad’s and Mom’s noble motivation raising a large family was their shared desire to supply the Church with priests and nuns. My brother – rest his soul – and I were the only ones to answer to a religious calling. Apparently it wasn’t our calling. He became a deacon in the Church and I was drawn to choral music and the healthcare field as a Doctor of Chiropractic and clinical nutritionist. The sacred healing art of Attunement came to me as a natural next in my healing ministry. We both married and raised beautiful sons and daughters.
I bring all of this forward from out of the past on the eve of my birthday just as a reminder of how short a life cycle is. Mine has been short but rich in friendships and adventures. I have played many roles in those years: as a son to two wonderful and hard-working parents, as a brother to six sisters and one younger brother, as an altar boy, seminarian, and doctor of Chiropractic; as a husband to two wonderful women and father to two amazing sons and two beautiful daughters. I have been richly blessed.
I am profoundly thankful for all life has given me to cherish and nurture and to enrichen my life’s journey. Thank you, God. Thank you friends for sharing this journey with me as faithful followers of my blog over the years. It’s been a real joy sharing my thoughts and words of wisdom with you. I’m not signing off here; just feeling profoundly grateful for living on this beautiful Earth and with so many friends who have played important roles in my life’s journey. Write to me at my email address below. I always enjoy hearing from my friends and reading your responses to my posts. I’ll see you in June. Until then . . .
Be love. Be loved.
