Transmutation of the Elements of Matter, part 1

NOTHING IS AS IT SEEMS—or so it seems. The world of form around us is said to be an illusion and that which appears solid is in a state of flux and constant motion. The very elements that comprise the material world from which our bodies arise are constantly undergoing transmutation. I had a visual experience of the liquid nature of the world many years ago as I was in a deep meditative trance during an attunement session. I went into an altered state of consciousness. When I opened my eyes and looked around the room, the carpet in the room appeared to be alive and crawling with ants, as were the walls and furniture. This alteration of consciousness lasted for only a few moments as I came out of my trance. Nothing is as it seems.

THIS ELECTRICAL WORLD OF EFFECTS

We do perceive our world to be solid and hard as we bump up against things. I’ve come to understand this to be nothing more than our body’s electrical charge being repelled by the negative electrical charge of the electrons spinning around inside the atoms that make up the molecular structure of the material world—or so the current scenario of the structure of the atom goes, a scenario that’s being challenged by scientists, including Dr. Walter Russell, whose revolutionary concepts of the the universe of matter have piqued the interests of leading-edge scientists and some of those thinkers involved in the science and consciousness movement. His published work has seamlessly interwoven science and spirituality. 

By negative I do not mean pessimistic or destructive. I’m referring to electrical positive charge and negative discharge, noting that this is a discharge of electrical current and not the neutral grounding principle of the electrical circuitry in the wiring of your house where a “hot wire” carrying a positive current of electricity discharges its power via a neutral “grounding” wire that, with the flip of a switch, lights up the room or powers a motor. That’s not an example of positive and negative electricity. That’s an example of a positive charge discharging its power into the neutral and receptive ground, as in the case of lightning and thunder bolts.

This is dramatically demonstrated—sometimes painfully and fatally so—when someone who is grounded grabs a “hot” wire with the palm of his hand, the positive side of the hand. The hand tightens around the wire and it is nearly impossible to pull it away. If, however, one brushes up against the hot wire with the back side of one’s hand, the negative side, the hand is repelled. The positive electrical charge is a magnet to the positive side of the hand and repels the negative side.

A WINDING AND UNWINDING UNIVERSE

According to Russell’s inspired vision of this electric universe, a negative charge repels both negative and positive charges, simply based on its unwinding centrifugal force of radiation outward from its vortex apex of positive magnetic centripetal contraction—the latter inhaling and compressing energy and the former exhaling and decompressing the energy of bifurcated Light. (See diagram above)

Undivided Light is the stable fulcrum of this energetic leveraging dynamic. It’s also the still and immovable point of control for this rhythmic heartbeat of the Cosmos. The Earth and all the planets are attracted to and repelled from the Sun simultaneously. Light is the still point of rest and origination for all of Creation.

The radiant magnetic presence of the sun is always available to the orbiting planets, whose lesser potentials attracts them to the greater potential of the sun even as their negatively charged bodies repel them from the sun, thereby keeping them in a creative proximity to the sun and to one another, and in a state of equilibrium. I suspect there’s a lot more science and physics at work involving the atmosphere, ionosphere and the Van Allan Radiation Belts of charged particles that shield the Earth from powerful solar winds.

In the Divine Design of Creation, the Light of Love shines radiantly into the darkness upon the face of the deep of space and shapes hallowed space . . . and continues to sanctify and reshape unhallowed space by means of Love’s purifying fire. Man’s role in this creative dynamic is to respond to the radiance of Love and to be drawn by its magnetic power to participate in Creation.

Let me share something with you that has enlightened my understanding of this illusory universe of matter—illusory only in that we cannot see the whole picture, which includes the invisible vibrational essences, with our physical and mental faculties. We can only discern them at the higher level of perception our hearts afford. Spiritual or vibrational things are spiritually or vibrationally discerned.

The mind’s netlike substance can only snare the larger thought patterns; the smaller essences slip right through its net. With the finer substance of our hearts we understand the fine essences of spirit. If we were to see the whole picture, we would see the continuum of differentiated energy and understand the vibratory nature of the material world. We would not then be fooled by the illusion of its seeming stability. Because it is in constant motion at the molecular level, it is quite susceptible to change—sudden change, as cataclysms, earthquakes, tornadoes and hurricanes demonstrate. As part of a vibrational continuum of consciousness—the heaven and the earth being one inseparable whole—a change in the upper realms affects change in the lower realms.

SEEING WITH THE HEART

Science and physics observe the Universe of matter using mental and physical modes of observation. They then draw conclusions based on what they observe in laboratories and develop theories about the construction of the physical world based on those very limited observations of appearances. After all, physics is a physical science, and scientific research is largely a mental exercise. What scientists and physicists cannot see and observe is the invisible vibrational reality behind the physical world of matter that gives it it’s properties and characteristics, along with its activities and movements—and how is all fits together into One Universal Whole.

That word alone (Uni-verse) means to turn as One around a stable fulcrum point of balancing Power which has position but no magnitude. Here in the Western hemisphere, we use the words God, the One and Creator or Great Spirit to speak of this unspeakable and ineffable nameless ONE. In Eastern religious sects, words such as Allah, Elohim, Yahwey, Purusha and a host of other names are used. Walter Russell uses the word “MIND” in his writings . . . and this brings me to something I wish to say about the human mind in the context of reading and studying the works of geniuses, such as Walter Russell was in his productive and creative life of service to the ONE.

The human mind is sometimes intimidated by complex intellectual considerations. Our minds are wonderful instruments for refocusing the Light of Truth that allows us to comprehend and navigate the many and various features and aspects of the physical material world of effects. Opened upwards, we are able to discern the invisible vibrational essences in the realm of Cause with the heart, for it is in our hearts, as we considered above, where spiritual and vibrational factors of Reality and Cause are understood. It has been demonstrated that there are a considerable number of “brain cells” in the physical heart. The popular saying “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he” speaks to this truth.

COMPREHENDING GENIUS

When I first opened Walter Russell’s book, THE UNIVERSAL ONE, several years ago, I was utterly at a loss mentally at comprehending what I was reading. I only started reading because of the headings of the chapters, which piqued my interest a great deal, for I have always been curious when it came to understanding what makes things what they are and by what force they are moved about. So I stayed with him “through thick and thin” as we say; through page after page and chapter after chapter. Suddenly, as if by some spontaneous shift in my faculty for understanding, I began reading his thought processes. I tapped into his mind, and I believe into the MIND of God, dare I say, whence Russell’s thoughts and words appeared to be arising and falling on the pages.

Once I began flowing with the current weaving through his uniquely poetic style of writing and expressing his understanding of the secrets of the Universe, I began to actually enjoy his writings. My next desire was to share some of his wisdom and insights with others through my blogs—which immediately presented a challenge. I suspect there are not very many of my followers who are interested in comprehending the secrets of the Universe, or the genius of Walter Russell . . . and I do appreciate that. Yet, I venture forward into the challenging endeavor of sharing what I find exciting and inspiring in this Universe of creating forces.

So I would encourage you to read the excerpts from Russell’s work more with your heart than with your mind in order to sense the current of his thinking. If you show interest in the topic, then you will begin to understand his thinking. Simply focus on the words and re-read challenging sentences. But also allow your heart to be involved in discerning his spirit and passion for revealing and sharing with his colleagues and the world what he has been allowed to “see” during his thirty-nine-day illumination period in 1921. His mind was a luciferous bearer of insight into the Reality behind the Universe during his creative life’s journey of 92 years (1871-1963). Of this I am convinced. So I will proceed with this introduction to a new series of blog posts under the heading “Transmutation of the Elements of Matter.”

WE APPEAR AND THEN WE DISAPPEAR

We appear at birth into this material world of elemental forms. During the first thirty-five or forty years we grow our physical bodies, educate our minds to function intelligently in this world, and ideally mature emotionally and spiritually in order to navigate the vibrational terrain of life. . . all of it the accomplishments of the achieving centripetal flow of positive masculine energy, the magnetic force that draws form together.

If and as we transcend physical reality to embrace the world of Spirit and live our creative lives of about forty or fifty years out of a spiritual consciousness and awareness of our divine identity and authentic Self, we bring forth the unique gifts of our life’s work. In the end of our life cycle, and by way of the expenditure of energy we put forth—a responsive function of our negative feminine energy—we dismantle our physical forms and then simply disappear back from whence we appeared. As Shakespeare put it in poetic verse: “Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.”

We refer to this end-phase of life as the “golden years” because the golden glow of youthful and childlike radiance returns with the centrifugal unwinding of our life energy as the light of the angel yet incarnate begins to shine through the thinning veil of the opaque heart and facial countenance.

I am reminded of two of my ageing attunement mentors. Dr. George Shears, whose countenance shown with light as his form seemingly faded thin weeks before making his transition and final transmutation back to pure spirit. It was a wonderful experience and privilege to abide in the shadow of his light during our almost daily attunement sessions while attending a three-month Art of Living class at Sunrise Ranch in Loveland, Colorado, where he lived out his final days of service here on Earth. Sometimes his hand rested on my chest as he fell asleep. I loved him very much, as I did his nephew, Dr. William Bahan, “Bill” as we called him, my professional mentor, whose personal field of radiance was at times a palpable hedge extending several feet around his body toward the latter days of his presence on earth, considerably dense as I approached to shake his hand on one occasion. I looked up into his welcoming and un-filtering eyes as I entered his protective hedge without resistance, as I know there was much in my personal field that yet needed purification and clarification.

The world of energy is fascinating but exacting to navigate. As the saying goes, “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.” The terrain of the elemental earth is alive with movement. Men are wasteful in their ignorance of this as they impose their destructive machinery tearing into the mountains for minerals and the sacred earth for fuel. There is an easier and less destructive way that remains hidden from the eyes of the foolish. Transmutation Demystified Part 4: At the Crossover Point

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91)

PROCEEDING TO THE FINAL two misconceptions our featured author and science mentor, Walter Russell, rectifies in his book A NEW CONCEPT of the UNIVERSE, this excerpt reminds me of a quip uttered by a friend and attunement colleague: “Nothing’s wrong. Everything matters.” Used as a verb, if you will, the word “matters” would mean materializes or manifests.

The flip side of this coined quip could read “Nothing’s wrong, everything un-matters,” as in disintegrates, in the life/death cycle in this “Creating Universe,” as Russell calls it, implying that there is no beginning nor ending to God’s eternal Creation, as energy — which is what everything is — cannot be created nor uncreated or destroyed. The Universe of Light is as eternal as its Creator. Let’s hear what Dr. Russell has to say about matter. Does anything really “matter” or is it all an illusion? Hmmm.

Misconception of Matter

4. Electric matter is but a mirror which reflects qualities outside itself to simulate those qualities within itself.

In the Mind of any creator of any product is the IDEA of the formed body which Mind desires to produce. Also the knowledge, energy and method of production are in the Mind of the creator of that product and not in the product. The architect does not say that the energy, idea, or construction methods are in the temple of his conceiving, nor should man say that they are in the temple of God’s conceiving.

To thus claim that energy is a property of matter is to deprive The Creator of His omnipotence and omniscience. The entire universe manifests power, but the universe is not the power which it manifests.

Not one particle of matter which constitutes the material body of any product can move of itself. It can move only through desire and command of the Mind of its creator extended to it electrically.

The powers of “attraction” and “repulsion” which science mistakenly attributes to matter are electrical effects performing their one and only function of dividing an equilibrium into two opposing conditions, which extend equally from a dividing equator. The magnetic Light controls the balance of these two opposing conditions which interchange two ways in their endeavor to void their opposing conditions, but the stresses and strains which seem to make matter attract and repel matter are electric effects.

Electric effects of motion can be insulated from each other — but the magnetic Light of The Creator, which causes those effects, cannot be insulated from matter by matter.

All matter is electric. Electricity conditions all matter under the measured control of the ONE MAGNETIC LIGHT which forever balances the TWO electrically-divided, conditioned lights of matter and space.

Divided matter strains to find balance in the zero of equilibrium from which it was divided. The senses of man are mightily deceived by the illusions of appearance which cause him to conclude otherwise.

Newton’s apple was not attracted to the ground by gravitation. The high potential condition of that solid apple sought a similar high potential condition. That is to say it “fell” toward the earth to fulfill Nature’s law of like seeking like.

Had Newton sat with the apple for a week or two he would have seen that same apple “rise” unto the heavens as a low potential gas seeking a like low potential position to balance its electrically-divided state. The “rising” of the decaying, expanding apple again fulfills Nature’s law of like seeking like.

All polarizing bodies add to their densities and potentials. The apple which fell to the ground was a polarized body. All polarized bodies must reverse their polarities and depolarize. They then lose their densities and potentials. The depolarized apple returned to the zero of its beginning.

The Newtonian law is in this respect invalid because it accounts for but one half of the apple’s growth-decay cycle. This is a two-way universe of opposed effects of motion — not a one-way Universe.

Misconception of Substance in Matter

5. Sense of observation has led to the erroneous conclusion that there are 92 different substances of matter.

This universe is substance-less. It consists of motion only. Motion simulates substance by the control of its opposing wave pressures of motion which deceive the senses into seeing substance where motion alone is. The senses do not reach beyond the illusion of motion, or do those who believe that they can gain knowledge of the secrets of this vast make-believe universe even faintly comprehend the unreality of this mirage of polarized light-in-motion which they so firmly believe is real.

Motion is two-way, for all motion is caused by the division of an equilibrium, and its extension in two opposite directions to create the two opposite conditions of pressures necessary to make motion imperative.

One of these two conditions of electric motion thrusts inward toward a center to create a centripetal vortex to simulate gravity. On the other side of the dividing equator, the other condition thrusts outward from a center to create a centrifugal. vortex to simulate vacuity.

Moving waves of oppositely-conditioned matter simulate substance, but there is no substance to the motion which simulates IDEA in matter. If a cobweb could move fast enough, it would simulate a solid steel disc — and it could cut through steel. If such a thing could happen it would not be the “substance” of the cobweb which cut through the steel — it would be the motion which cut it.

Fast-moving short waves simulate solids, while slow-moving long waves simulate the gases of space which surround solids. Waves of motion are substance-less, however. They merely simulate substance.

Motion itself is controlled by the Mind of the Creator Who uses it to express His desire for simulating IDEA of Mind by giving it a formed body. There is no other purpose for motion.

Desire in the Light of Mind for creative expression is the only energy in this universe. All motion is Mind motivated. All motion records Mind thoughts in matter.

All matter is but pressure-conditioned motion. Varying pressure conditions yield varying states of motion. Varying states of motion are what science misinterprets as the elements of matter.

Varying pressures in a wave are tonal.  In each octave wave there are four pairs of tones, each of which has the same relative position in its octave color spectrum as it has in its octaves of chemical elements.

Waves are, therefore, electric pressure-conditioned octaves of tone.

ELECTRICAL VORTICES OF ENEGETIC WAVES

This graphic from Russell’s book demonstrates how electrical currents spin a vortex of energy, a “field” if you will, as bodies of matter are created and un-created and returned to their origin as invisible plasma, or gas.

The crossover point is at the equator where Light abides in stillness offering control to the movement of atoms and providing a fulcrum for balancing the opposing actions of radiation and gravitation. (Another word for gravitation is response or attraction.) It’s also the place of greatest pressure, as well as the point of transmutation.

AS BELOW SO ABOVE

What manifests and takes shape in the explicate order under the heaven reflects Life’s design for forms in the implicate order of the heaven. There is only One Law governing the Creative Process: Radiation–Response–Attraction–Union–Unified Radiation. This law governs the electric universe at all levels, including and especially at the level where Man was created to live and function at the crossover point between Heaven and Earth as co-creator with God. The substance of connection between Man and Creator is the medium through which the Tone of the Word that creates Life on Earth is propagated so as to be perceptible by Man and re-sounded in the expression of his living. That medium is the rarified substance of pheumaplasm (spirit substance).

Pneumaplasm is the silvery substance comprising the plasma chord of connection between the Angel and his/her incarnating human capacity. Essentially it is transmuted flesh generated by the movement of the Spirit of God in expression through body, mind and heart. The flow of Spirit, of Love, enters the body by way of the heart as it is open in love response to the Spirit of God — as Handle celebrated in his MESSIAH: “Lift up your heads, O ye gates, and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting portals, that the King of glory may come in.” — and as the Lord of Love commanded when he gave us the First Great Commandment.

A friend and attunement colleague, Chris Jorgensen, of the International Association of Attunement Practitioners, recently penned a succinct description of the crossover point in a context relating to Attunement:

The crossover point is the sacred place where the Radiation of Being is consciously known and shared. It is the point where Love is made visible. It is Assurance in divine Presence. The current vibration of the world is the Spirit of Purification, the crossover point – the energy, frequency and radiation of the Heart-Thymus. It is a singular point where Heaven and Earth meet.

Living in Attunement at the crossover point we find ourselves alone in our own radiation and pneumaplasm. This sacred setting is not a school, or a place to find an external leader to direct or instruct, nor is it the place of questioning. At this crossover point we know our own divine name, our sense of purpose, and the commission for the life-pattern that we have created and continually enfold in love . . . and, we know the answers to any of our questions.

The electric technology for the transmutation and ascension of flesh to a higher vibrational state, and for the generation of spiritualized atomic substance, is already in place. All one need do is come into the place of greatest pressure and greatest stillness at the crossover point of no magnitude between Heaven and Earth and look up in utter love and abandon and say — with all of one’s heart and with all of one’s mind and with all of one’s strength— “I love you Lord God” — and never leave that place of stillness. Live in the place of attunement with the tone of that love response upward and the outward flow of life will continually be strong and radiant. Transmutation is natural.

Transmutation Demystified, Part 2: Rectifying Misconceptions

TRANSMUTATION IS NO MYSTERY — any more than the digestion of food is a mystery. Transmutation of the earth itself, though presently limited, is an ongoing process of ascension . . . one in which we human beings could well play a more conscious stewarding role. Let me elucidate.

There are some 14 inorganic minerals and 72 trace minerals or more being chelated (literally clawed apart from their covalent bonds) and lifted up through the roots of your garden vegetable plants, transformed and transmuted into organic vegetables that are easily consumed, digested, ingested and absorbed into your body . . . transmuted again into flesh and bone . . . and not one of these steps can be circumvented. Inorganic minerals cannot be transmuted into living flesh without passing through the chelation process of the vegetable kingdom where they are dissembled and rearranged for use in animal organisms, such as our bodies. They are the building blocks of the body temple and facilitators of its chemical processes and nutrient utilization.

But that’s not the final destination for these elemental building blocks, nor their last transmutation to undergo. They have yet a higher purpose to serve and a sacred role to play in this Whole Holy World.

Creation comes from God through Man and returns to God through Man. How this occurs and unfolds is the magic of transmutation, which is no longer a mystery, as “The mystery of God is finished on earth.” (Rev 10:7)

Let me share with you the rest of this amazing story, a story that demystifies not only transmutation, but a story that demystifies as well the “mystery” of God and of our relationship to our Creator. This will be a fascinating series . . . albeit a bumpy ride for a structured mindset.

Before we get into the story, let’s take a few posts to rectify some longstanding misconceptions in the scientific community, which will establish a foundation for our consideration of transmutation. For this I will rely on my science mentor, Walter Russell, and his illumined consort and beloved companion, Lao Russell. (Click on his name above to visit my previous post about him).

We are at the beginning of a glorious New Age of knowledge and awareness of our oneness with all life. May we bring into being in this twentieth century the Life Triumphant for all peoples everywhere and thus fulfill our sole purpose on earth—which is to discover our divinity and live it” — LAO RUSSELL

Misconceptions Rectified

1. The cardinal error of science lies in shutting the Creator out of His Creation.

“This one basic error topples the whole structure, for out of it all of the other misconceptions of light, matter, energy, electricity, magnetism and atomic structure have grown.

“If science knew what LIGHT actually IS, instead of the waves and corpuscles of incandescent suns which science now thinks it is, a new civilization would arise from that one fact alone.

“Light is not waves which travel at 186,000 miles per second, which science says it is,— nor does light travel at all.

“The light of incandescent suns is but an effect of one of the two equally-opposed electric pressure conditions which interweave this universe into visible solids and liquids surrounded by invisible gases of space.

“These two opposite electric conditions which form the basis of the constitution of matter are the compressed condition of gravity pressure and the expanded condition of radiation pressure. These two electric conditions are the equal-and-opposite pressures which make motion imperative and without which motion is impossible.”

This is essential to our understanding of transmutation, as we’ll see later.

LOOPS OF FORCE IN AN ELECTRICAL CURRENT ARE WOUND UP CENTRIPETALLY, JUST AS SOLAR AND STELLAR SYSTEMS ARE WOUND UP IN THE HEAVENS. CENTRIFUGAL FORCE UNWINDS THEM FOR REWINDING AND REPETITION

“The positive electric condition compresses large volumes of light-waves into small volumes by winding them up centripetally into spiral vortices by thrusting inward from without. That is what gravitation is.

“The negative electric condition expands small volumes of light-waves into larger volumes by unwinding them centrifugally into voiding equators where matter disappears. This is what radiation is. Radiation thrusts outwardly from within to depolarize matter and void motion.

“The light of suns and the dark of space are but two opposite conditions of the same thing. They interchange constantly. Each becomes the other sequentially.

“Science excluded God in its considerations because of the supposition that God could not be proven to exist by laboratory methods.

“This decision is unfortunate for God IS provable by laboratory methods. The locatable motionless Light which man mistakenly calls magnetism is the invisible, but familiar, Light which God IS — and with it He controls His universe — as we shall see.” —Walter Russess, A New Concept Of The Universe

The disappearance of matter is precisely when the final process of transmutation of flesh to a higher order of Light takes place, as we shall see . . . and it need not all fall back into the soil which gave it rise.

Our Electromagnetic Universe, page 3: The Body Electric, part 2

All matter, living and nonliving, is ultimately an electromagnetic phenomenon. The material world, at least as physics has penetrated, is an atomic structure held together by electromagnetic forces….

All of life on earth can be considered a unit, a glaze of sentience spread thinly over the crust. In toto its field would be a hollow, invisible sphere inscribed with a tracery of all the thoughts and emotions of all creatures. We know now the truth of our oneness with all life, knowledge that only emerged in modern thought in relatively recent times — well after Edison’s discovery of the light bulb and the proliferation of electrical appliances of every sort imaginable; well after the radio and television as well. But not before the proliferation age of microwave technology and the cell phone. We were warned as early as 1985 of the dangers of Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR), sometimes called Electromagnetic Fields (EMF), to our health, physical as well as mental. Robert Becker warned science of this clear and present danger:

Since the earth’s electromagnetic activity has such a profound effect on life, the obvious question is: What are the consequences of our artificial energies?

He then painstakingly proceeded to publish such consequences. Of course, no one listened. The typical human attitude prevailed and prevails even today: If you can do it, you should, consequences to be dealt with later.

But what are some of these consequences? And how can we rationalize our use of artificial energy? A more profound question yet could be: Is it somehow included in the overall Plan of Evolution and the catalytic conversion of human flesh from a purely physical to a transmuted spiritual nature? Ah! Is there perchance method hidden in our madness, unbeknownst to even our own exalted intelligence?  Is evolution using artificial energy as a tool for transformation and ultimate transmutation?  Seeing how vast its presence and use is, we have to consider this possibility. Let’s explore . . . and inquire.

WHAT YOU CAN’T SEE CAN HURT YOU

Except for light and infrared heat, electromagnetic radiation and fields cannot be seen or even perceived without instruments, so most people don’t realize how drastically and abruptly we have changed the electromagnetic environment in just one century. Here’s a brief history:

  • Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell showed mathematically in 1873 that light was but a small part of the vast undiscovered realm of radiation.
  • Heinrich Hertz first found some of the radio waves in 1888.
  • Thomas Edison had set up the first commercial electric-power system in New York in 1882.
  • Nikola Tesla lit the Chicago World’s Fair with the first AC power system in 1893, and two years later he began the modern era of electrical engineering by harnessing Niagara Falls. 
  • Guglielmo Marconi sent a radiotelegraph across the Atlantic in 1901, using without acknowledgment a machine designed by the prolific Tesla. 
  • The invention of the vacuum tube in 1907 led to the first voice transmission by radio in 1915 and the first commercial station in 1920. 
  • Shorter and shorter radio waves, bounced off the ionosphere for long-distance communication, began to be used before World War II.
  • The development of microwaves was impelled by the fight against fascism, which helped win the Battle of Britain, allowed all-weather bombing of Germany, and gave the American Navy a decisive edge over the Japanese. The conflict also produced other electronic devices of all types.
  • In 1947 Bell Telephone set up the first microwave phone relay towers between New York and Boston, the same year the first commercial television broadcasts, also transmitted by microwaves, began. Since then nearly every human action has involved an electrical appliance, and today we’re all awash in a sea of energies life has never before experienced. Here’s a list of only a few of these appliances in use in 1985 when Becker published his book:

  1. Everything that runs on a battery produces a DC magnetic field.
  2. Strong magnetic fields are used in industry to refine ore, concentrate and recycle scrap iron, purify sewage, soften water for steam boilers, and many other tasks.
  3. The starting and stopping of an electric train turns the power rail into a giant antenna that radiates ELF [low frequency electromagnetic fields] waves for over 100 miles.
  4. Electromagnetic fields vibrating at 60 hertz (50 hertz in Europe and Russia) surround nearly every person on earth from appliances at  home and machines at work.
  5. Over 500,000 miles of high-voltage power lines crisscross the United States. Innumerable smaller lines feed into every home, office, factory and military base, all producing AC and DC fields. Metal objects near the lines concentrate the fields to higher levels.
  6. In addition, high-voltage lines are, in effect, a gigantic antennae operating at 60 hertz in the ELF band, the largest “radio” transmitters in the world.
  7. AC magnetic fields vibrating at 100 to 10,000 hertz emanate from antitheft systems in stores and libraries, and from metal detectors in airports.
  8.  Low-frequency radio waves are used for air and sea navigation, time references, emergency signals, some amateur radio channels, and military communications.
  9. Medium frequencies between 535 and 1,604 kilohertz are reserved for AM radio transmitters, which are limited to 50,000 watts in this country but are sometimes much more powerful abroad. 
  10. HF and VHF channels are filled with chatter from the nation’s 35 million CB radios, as well as shortwave bands for more ham radios, air and seas navigation systems, military uses, spy satellites, and police and taxi radios. VHF television and FM radios also inhabit this region. There are now (1985) over ten thousand commercial radio and TV stations in the U.S. alone, and 7 million other radio transmissions, not counting the millions operated by the military. 
  11. Weather satellites, some kinds of radar, diathermy machines, upward of 10 million microwave ovens, more cop and cab radios, automatic garage-door openers, highway emergency call boxes, and UHF television compete for the low microwave frequencies.
  12. Higher microwave bands are crowded with more military talk, channels of radar, navigational beacons, commercial communications satellites, various kinds of walkie-talkies, and America’s two-hundred-fifty-thousand (plus) microwave phone and TV relay towers. [As of 2011, there are some 7,012,000,000 cell phones in the hands of nearly 80% of the world’s population.]
  13. Like the infrared rays above them in the spectrum, radio waves and microwaves produce heat when directed in high-intensity beams. Hence they’re used for all sorts of industrial chores — bonding plywood, vulcanizing rubber, manufacturing shoes, sterilizing food, making plastics, and heat sealing the trillions of plastic-wrapped products in our stores, even opening oysters. Modern electronics would be impossible without the perfect silicon and germanium crystals grown in microwave furnaces. (Becker)

Dr. Becker concludes this section with these fair warnings:

The human species has changed its electromagnetic background more than any other aspect of the environment. For example, the density of radio waves around us is now 100 million or 200 million times the natural level reaching us from the sun. Nor is there any end in sight. When superconducting cables are introduced, they’ll increase the field strength around power lines by a factor of ten or twenty. Electric cars, magnetically levitated transport vehicles, and microwave-beam satellites for transmitting solar power to earth would each add strong new sources of electromagnetic contamination. A proposed electromagnetic catapult that could shoot satellites into space from mile-long rails built up the side of a mountain would require the combined output of the country’s thousand generating stations for the few seconds of each launch.

A few years ago most investigators believed that each wavelength interacted mainly with objects comparable to it in size. This was a comforting notion that theoretically limited each frequency to one type of effect and predicted that really troublesome problems for humans would come from only one portion of the spectrum–the FM band. Now, however, we know there are primary effects on all life-forms at ELF frequencies, and in other parts of the spectrum there can be consequences for specific systems at any level, from the subatomic to the entire biosphere as a unit. 

The rest of this chapter deals with the specific detrimental effects of ELF radiation on human biology, physiology, hormonal chemistry and mental function, which are too numerous for a blog post — not to mention the disorienting effect microwave radiation is having on birds and insects — the bees, for example, who reportedly often can’t find their way home to their hives, impacting fruit and vegetable plants that depend on pollination for the production of our foods. Bird migration has been disrupted along with that of the mammoth whales in our vast oceans. 

IS ARMAGEDDON UNDERWAY? 

Where is all this leading?  Where has it taken us? Are we destroying our natural habitat and committing suicide? Are we perhaps hastening the evolution of our species and facilitating the evolution of Gaia into a “Fourth-Density planet,” leaving it uninhabitable for third-density life — a direction in which David Wilcock proposes planet Earth is headed in his books The Source Field Investigations and The Synchronicity Key? Is electricity the very fire of bodily transmutation, an externalized force kindled and driven by the transmuting Fire of Love? Is this the fire of Armageddon that was prophesied to destroy the world? Ah, these are the questions I find thought provoking. What do you think? One of the most highlighted books in my library is Robert Becker’s 1985 THE BODY ELECTRIC . Just about every page has one or more lines highlighted.  Dr. Becker and his co-author, Gary Selden, teamed up to produce one of the most researched and documented scientific studies of our time.The entire book is a most fascinating journey through this doctor/scientist’s life’s work of proving and demonstrating how electricity coursing from the brain through the nerves of our bodies drives every anatomical and physiological function and more. It can even grow new limbs that have been amputated, or limbs where they don’t normally grow, which means it is intelligence. The same electrical current moving from atom to atom and cell to cell generates an electromagnetic field around the body. It also creates our mental capacity.  Today we call this current “life” but as early as the 1920’s no scientist would risk his career by as much as suggesting that life was in any sense electrical.

Becker went even further in his experiments to show how artificially generated low frequency electromagnetic fields around us, such as those produced by cell phones, microwave ovens and cellphone towers, and even toasters and electric heaters, influence the flow of electrical current through our bodies, often causing disruptions in normal function throughout the body-mind continuum, to the extent of even causing cancers and other diseases.

It’s an axiom of science that the better an experiment is, the more new questions it raises after it has answered the one you asked. By that standard my first simple test had been pretty good. The new problems branched out like the fingers on those restored limbs: Where did the injury currents come from? Were they in fact related to the nervous system and, if so, how? It seemed unlikely that they sprang into action only after an amputation; they must have existed before. There must have been a preexisting substratum of direct current activity that responded to the injury. Did the voltages I measured really reflect such currents, and did they flow throughout the salamander’s body?  [He used lizards and frogs as test subjects.] Did other organisms have them? What structures carried them? What were their electrical properties? What were they doing the rest of the time, before injury and after healing? Could they be used to provoke regeneration where it was normally absent?

A QUICK REFRESHER ON ELECTRICAL CURRENT

Becker shares his process of finding some of the answers with us throughout his book, but not without first taking the time to familiarize us with electrical terms and basic concepts essential to understanding his approach. 

Everything electrical stems from the phenomenon of charge. No one knows exactly what this is, except to say that it’s a fundamental property of matter that exists in two opposite forms, or polarities, which we arbitrarily call positive and negative. Protons, which are one of the two main types of particles in atomic nuclei, are positive; the other particles, the neutrons, are so named because they have no charge. Orbiting around the nucleus are electrons, in the same number as the protons inside the nucleus. Although an electron is 1,836 times less massive than a proton, the electron carries an equal but opposite (negative) charge. Because of their lightness and their position outside the nucleus, electrons are much more easily dislodged from atoms than are protons, so they are the main carriers of electrical charge. For the lay person’s purposes a negative charge can be thought of as a surplus of electrons, while a positive charge can be considered a scarcity of them. When electrons move away from an area, it becomes positively charged, and the area to which they move becomes negative.

A flow of electrons is called a current, and is measured in amperes, units named for an early-nineteenth–century French physicist, Andre Marie Ampere. A direct current is a more or less even flow, as opposed to the instantaneous discharge of static electricity as sparks or lightning, or the back-and-forth flow of alternating current which powers most of our appliances.

It is this back-and-forth alternating (AC) current of our artificially produced electricity that disrupts the flow of the subtle energy of life in our bodies as a direct current (DC). We would be far better off healthwise with a DC current instead of our present AC current of electricity.  

Besides the amount of charge being moved, a current has another characteristic important for our narrative — its electromotive force. This can be visualized as the “push” behind the current, and it‘s measured in volts (named for Alessandro Volta).

In high school most of us learned that a current flows only when a source of electrons (negatively charged material) is connected to a material having fewer free electrons (positively charged in relation to the source) by a conductor, through which the electrons can flow. This is what happens when you connect the negative terminal of a battery to its positive pole with a wire or a radio‘s innards: You‘ve completed a circuit between negative and positive. If there‘s no conductor, and hence no circuit, there‘s only a hypothetical charge flow, or electric potential, between the two areas. The force of this latent current is also measured in volts by temporarily completing the circuit with a recording device, as I did in my experiment.  

The potential can continue to build until a violent burst of current equalizes the charges; this is what happens when lightning strikes. Smaller potentials may remain stable, however. In this case they must be continuously fed by a direct current flowing from positive to negative, the opposite of the normal direction. In this part of a circuit, electrons actually flow from where they‘re scarce to where they’re more abundant.
As Volta found, such a flow is generated inside a battery by the electrical interaction of two metals.

ELECTRIC AND MAGNETIC  FIELDS

An electric field forms around any electric charge. This means that any other charged object will be attracted (if the polarities are opposite) or repelled (if they‘re the same) for a certain distance around the first object. The field is the region of space in which an electrical charge can be detected, and it‘s measured in volts per unit of area. Electric fields must be distinguished from magnetic fields. Like charge, magnetism is a dimly understood intrinsic property of matter that manifests itself in two polarities. Any flow of electrons sets up a combined electric and magnetic field around the current, which in turn affects other electrons nearby. Around a direct current the electro-magnetic field is stable, whereas an alternating current‘s field collapses and reappears with its poles reversed every time the current changes direction. This reversal happens sixty times a second in our normal house currents. Just as a current produces a magnetic field. . . when it moves in relation to a conductor, induces a current. Any varying magnetic field, like that around household appliances, generates a current in nearby conductors. The weak magnetic fields we‘ll be discussing are measured in gauss, units named after a nineteenth-century German pioneer in the study of magnetism, Karl Friedrich Gauss. 

Both electric and magnetic fields are really just abstractions that scientists have made up to try to understand electricity’s and magnetism‘s action at a distance, produced by no known intervening material or energy, a phenomenon that used to be considered impossible until it became undeniable. A field is represented by lines of force, another abstraction, to indicate its direction and shape. Both kinds of fields decline with distance, but their influence is technically infinite: Every time you use your toaster, the fields around it perturb charged particles in the farthest galaxies ever so slightly. 

In addition, there’s a whole universe full of electromagnetic energy, radiation that somehow seems to be both waves in an electromagnetic field and particles at the same time. It exists in a spectrum of wavelengths that includes cosmic rays, gamma rays, X rays, ultraviolet radiation, visible light, infrared radiation, microwaves, and radio waves. Together, electro-magnetic fields and energies interact in many complex ways that have given rise to much of the natural world, not to mention the whole technology of electronics. 

Perhaps the one person who understood electromagnetism was Walter Russell, a mystery which he unravels quite eloquently in his wonderfully enlightening book THE SECRET OF LIGHT, where he defines electricity as. . 

“. . . the strain or tension set up by the two opposing desires of universal Mind thinking: the desire for balanced action and the desire for rest.

If you want to understand light and electricity, read his book. For Russell, there is only God and Creation, which are inseparably one. God is electricity. Electricity is Divine Mind in action creating phenomena like magnetic fields that draw atoms together to create the myriad forms of life we see around us, including our physical bodies.  Russell’s is a “two-way” universe where . . .

Electricity [God] is forever winding light up into hot spheres, surrounded by cold cube wave-fields of space, and likewise sequentially unwinding them for rewinding. While winding them into compressed light masses, they are simultaneously unwinding to a lesser extent. Conversely, while unwinding they are simultaneously rewinding to a lesser extent.

Every opposite of a pair charges in excess of its discharge for one half of its cycle. It then discharges in excess of its charging. Life and death are good examples. Life charges a body in excess of its discharge for one half of its cycle and death discharges it in excess [of its charging] for the other half.

. . . Man’s senses have misled him into believing in a force called magnetism which attracts compass needles and lifts tons of steel. These phenomena of motion are due to electricity and not to magnetism. The cosmic Light is absolutely still. It neither attracts nor repels.
