SACRED ANATOMY: The Spiritual Significance of the Pineal Gland

The Language of the Body Temple is Frequency

Continuing with excerpts from my SACRED ANATOMY book, in this post I explore the spiritual significance of the Pineal Gland relative to its position and purpose in the Body Temple.  Tiny crystals inside the pineal gland act as transmitters for the very high-frequency vibrations of the Light of Love. Another name for Love is the Father within. It is Love that fathers life in the body temple. The pineal gland provides for the presence and expression of Love in the physical world. In partnership with the pituitary gland, the “Mother gland” of the endocrine system, life is born anew in each moment in and through human beings.

Arc of the Covenant

THE “MERCY SEAT”

The Pineal Body can be seen as hovering above and slightly posterior to the Sella Tuscica, a bony saddle etched out in the middle of the wing-shaped sphenoid bone, which forms the base of the skull.  The Sella Tursica holds the Pituitary Gland and correlates perfectly with the “mercy seat” of the biblical “Ark of the Testimony.” More popularly known as the “Ark of the covenant,” it bore the new covenant which God had made with the Israelites through Moses.  In the Ark a ball of fire is said to have hovered over the mercy seat all through the night giving evidence of the presence of the One Who Dwells in the Holy of Holies.  During the day, the tabernacle which housed the ark was enveloped in a cloud.  Similarly, the Pineal Body glows with the light of love, giving evidence of the presence of the One Who Dwells in the inner sanctum of each body temple.  There is obviously more here than meets the eye—and more, as we shall see, as eyes meet.  Since the “tabernacle of God is with men,” what was the source of this ball of fire that hovered over the mercy seat in this ark made of gold?

From my own personal experience working with deep healing currents in attunement, I have felt a profound quality of what I can only describe as the “mercy of love” pour out through this center behind my own eyes. This experience is particularly strong upon completion of a cycle where healing is acknowledged by the recipient in a deep current of thankfulness.  Here is the place in our body temples where Father God communicates with Man through His Spirit, even as He dwelt with the children of Israel through the Ark of the Covenant and gave them His commandments and instructions as they wandered in the wilderness “in a solitary way.”  So is God’s spirit of love and of mercy constantly available to us, even as we wander in the wilderness of this world feeling quite alone and isolated much of the time.

From the rather detailed description of the Ark of the Covenant in the Book of Exodus, one can see correlation of the design and construction of the Ark to the intricate structure of the human brain. For example, the mercy seat was situated in the middle between two cherubim, the entire piece fashioned out of a single piece of pure gold with the cherubim spreading out their wings on high to cover the mercy seat while they faced one another.

And he made two cherubim of gold, beaten out of one piece made he them, on the two ends of the mercy seat; One cherub on the end on this side, and another cherub on the other end on that side: out of the mercy seat made he the cherubim on the two ends thereof.  And the cherubim spread out their wings on high, and covered with their wings over the mercy seat, with their faces one to another; even to the mercy seatward were the faces of the cherubim.   (Exodus 37:7-9)

Where Angels’ Eyes Meet

In The Book of Grace, page 181, Grace Van Duzen writes at length describing this magnificent Ark of the Covenant and its construction.  About the cherubim she writes: “In descriptions found in other sources, it is said that a powerful ray, or beam, was emitted from the eyes of the cherubim, each making a connection with the other, the mercy seat between them.”

The ball of fire hovered in the space precisely where the gaze of these two cherubim met as they looked into each other’s eyes.  I am in awe just imagining this rather sizeable structure overlaid in pure gold, with these two solid golden cherubim gazing into one another’s eyes beholding and worshiping the living God. For us this experience is not in some far distant heaven somewhere but right within the human temple and available to behold simply by gazing into the eyes of another incarnate angel.

So also are the two hemispheres of the brain, which face one another, one single organ connected by the corpus callosum.   Even the name of these two lobes, the cerebrum, is very similar in spelling and intonation to “cherubim.” The cerebrum spreads out like wings hovering over the entire inner chamber where the Pineal and Pituitary glands carry out their sacred rites of transformation and transmutation.  Between these two brain lobes hovers a focus of spirit, like unto a ball of fire, over the Pituitary seated in the Sella Tursica on the floor of the skull, correlating precisely with the mercy seat.  It is unmistakably present and powerfully felt while holding these two contact points during attunement.  This is the fire of the presence of the One Who Dwells.

In the book of Samuel of the Old Testament, we read: “And David arose…to bring up…the Ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubim.”  The One Who Dwells is present in each human temple as a focus of the Spirit of Love between the hemispheres of the brain.

Then there is the decor of both the Ark and tabernacle which housed the Ark.  Gold was overlaid both inside and outside the Ark and used, along with silver and brass, throughout the entire construction. Curtains of “finely twined linen” and a “vail” were made for the inside of the tabernacle, connecting the “Holy of Holies,” where the Ark was kept, with the “Holy Place,” and their colors were blue, purple and scarlet

The tent covering the tabernacle was made of goats’ hair and a covering for the tent of rams’ skins dyed red, as well as one made of badgers’ skins to cover the covers of the tent.  An intricate pattern of enfoldment and an atmosphere of containment, as well as insulation and protection, is portrayed here.

Tentorium Cerebelli

Comparing this construction to that of the brain and the skull, there is a tent-like membrane, a portion of the dura mater, called the tentorium cerebelli . This serves as a protective partition between the cerebrum, in the upper portion of the cranium and the lower occipital lobes of the cerebellum, the motor portion of the brain.  Here we see reflected the design of the Temple in Jerusalem.  The Holy of Holies, representing the place where the Spirit of God dwells, is open only to the Holy place, our heart realm, where we commune with God.  This represents the being aspect of ourselves.  The Holy Place of the heart opens into the outer court of the mind, which represents the achieving aspect.  Mind and heart communicate through this invisible portal.  Just as there was a series of curtains in the Tabernacle, so is there a series of protective and nurturing  membranes around  the brain, including the dura mater, the pia mater and the arachnoid, so that the entire brain is completely enveloped inside this weblike “tent”. These membranes, also known as the meningeal sheath, contain the cerebrospinal fluid in which the brain is afloat and well protected from outside noise and activities.

Protected in Water

All of the activities of this inner sanctum of the brain take place in a protective container filled with water. In his beautiful and pictorial book, “BEHOLD MAN”, Lennart Nilsson describes the watery consistency of the brain:

The brain is not a solid mass of tissue.  In the interior are interconnected cavities filled with a watery fluid, the cerebrospinal fluid.  The fluid is produced by a tissue rich in blood vessels, the choroid plexus, mainly in the lateral ventricle of each hemisphere….  The lateral ventricles connect with the third ventricle, a cavity lying between the two hemispheres.  A narrow canal, the cerebral quadrigemina, connects the third ventricle with the fourth.  Openings in the fourth ventricle, located under the cerebellum, enable cerebrospinal fluid to leave the ventricular system to bathe the outer surface of the brain and spinal chord. (p. 171).

This description reminds me of the story in Genesis of the Garden planted “Eastward in Eden” with the Tree of Life and the River of Life branching out into four river heads.  Truly the Garden of Eden is within our very own body temples.

The names of these three membranes of the brain themselves tell something of their function. The “dura mater” translates literally into strong mother (matrix), indicating the tough and strong nature of this dense fibrous membrane which lines the interior of the skull and covers the entire brain and spinal column. In three places it is sent inward into the cavity of the skull to form the falx cerebri, the tentorium cerebelli and the falx cerebelli, membranes paring off sections of the brain.  The “arachnoid,” meaning like a spider’s web, so named from its extreme thinness, is a delicate membrane which envelopes the brain, lying between the pia mater internally and the dura mater externally.  The “pia mater” translates as gentle and smooth matrix and consists of a very vascular membrane that invests the entire surface of the brain nurturing this vital organ with blood, much like the endometrial lining of the fertile uterus and the placenta encapsulating the embryo.  Add the significance of the water of the cerebral spinal fluid and one has the distinct impression that this sacred space inside the brain is a very highly protected and enfolded womb for the birth of life in and through this body temple. Comparing it to Solomon’s temple of old, this whole area within the center of the brain could be considered the anatomical location of the “Holy of Hollies” and the “Holy Place” in our body temples, a place well guarded by the wing-like lobes of the cerebrum.

The biblical “shittim wood,” used throughout the construction of both the Ark and the tabernacle, comes from the Asiatic Acacia tree that puts forth small, delicate yellow-gold flowers. The fine-grain yellowish brown wood is not unlike the bones of the head and of the entire skeletal system. They were overlaid with pure gold, symbolizing the spirit of love which builds, maintains and dwell in this temple of living flesh.  Gold also symbolizes the finest, purest expression of the Soul and is the color of the Soul light. Uranda writes:

When the Ancients spoke of that alchemy by which base metals were transformed into gold, they were expressing the Truth that by the Alchemy of Love-Spirit the base substances of the fleshly body are TRANSMUTED INTO THE GOLD OF SOUL, the MASTER-SELF WITHIN THEE.  (Steps To Mastership, Ch. 42)

So here we see the temple of old built much like the skull of a man, even down to the final detail of the tent covering the tabernacle which was made of goats’ hair and rams’ skins.  This is parallel to our own skull which is covered by the tougher, hair-growing membrane of the scalp.

I will continue with this exploration of the pineal gland and its spiritual significance in the body temple in my next post. Until then,

Be love. Be loved

SACRED ANATOMY: The Pineal Gland–Cornerstone of the Temple

“The physical body is Real and beautiful beyond words to describe. It is wonderful beyond all the imaginings of mankind. In it are revealed the secret things of God.  Through it work the Cosmic Forces of the Universe.”—Uranda

THE PINEAL BODY

The Spirit of Love

Between the two hemispheres of the brain, below the posterior portion of the corpus callosum — the thick tissue connecting the two lobes of the cerebrum which hover over this inner sanctum like two arched wings — is a hallow space called the “Cave of Brama.”  In this cavity, enthroned atop the corpora quadrigemina — four small eminences on the back side of the brain stem serving as relay stations for auditory and visual impulses — is a small protuberance called the Pineal Body, or epiphysis cerebri.  Its pinecone shaped head, from which it derives its name, points back toward the “arbor vitae” (tree of life) of the cerebellum in the occipital cavity of the cranium.

Situated in the exact position of the Divine Proportion of the Golden Mean (.618 the distance on a line drawn from the front of the brain to the rear, and from the top of the skull to the bottom), behind and slightly above the level of the Pituitary Gland, the Pineal is about the size of the first digit of your little finger.  Its functions, however, are vast and relate primarily to the natural rhythms of the body.  It produces hormonal crystals, such as melatonin and serotonin, which synchronize the body’s circadian rhythms regulating some physiological activities, such as the sleep cycle, with the rotational cycles of the earth, as well as regulating blood flow to the brain, thereby influencing behavioral patterns and mental activity.  –The Pineal Gland located at the Golden Mean of the Divine Proportion of the Brain —

The color frequency of the Pineal is Violet correlating with the seventh wavelength of the light spectrum.  Violet is a passionate color and I wonder if perhaps, it isn’t here in the “seventh heaven” where our sense of deep passionate love for truth and for life itself is most deeply known.  This color also represents the purple garments of royalty befitting a king, and is not Love, rightly, the benevolent King and ruler of our hearts and of this whole holy world?  I perceive its musical pitch to correlate with F Natural. (This pitch shifted to a higher frequency of F# sometime during the dawning of the 21st century.)

As with all the endocrine glands, the Pineal is ductless and therefore secretes its hormones directly into the blood stream.  Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 are nutrients which support the health and function of the pineal gland.

The “Third Eye”

In former times the Pineal has been called by various names.  In the fourth century the Greek philosopher, Herophilus said it was the “sphincter of thought,” or the “origin of thought.”  Indian mystics said it was the “third eye,” the “eye within” and the “contemplative eye.”  Rene Descartes, the sixteenth century French philosopher, said the pineal was the “seat of the soul,” the seat of our consciousness.  Science, on the other hand, called it the pineal body, when no one understood what its functions were or if indeed there were any. For a while it was called the pineal gland and in the last decade it has been called the pineal organ because of its direct connection with the brain in producing its primary hormone, melatonin.

Lawrence Blair, in his book Rhythms of Vision in Chapter 6 entitled “The Subtle Anatomy of Man,” says there is a debate as to whether the “third eye” can be attributed to the Pineal or to the Pituitary, or as he states it:

…to the Brow or to the Crown Chakra; it is perhaps a somewhat academic point but I personally favor the Crown as being its most likely location. The corresponding physical organ, the pineal, is known to contain vestigial retinal tissue, and its structure is likened by modern physiology to a third, albeit atrophied, photo-receptor.

A further interesting physiological fact is that the pituitary gland (or the Brow Chakra) is connected to the left eye and governs the lower half of the brain, whereas the pineal expressing the Crown Chakra, is connected to the right eye and governs the upper half of the brain.

Perhaps no one has written with as much detail and insight about this little gland as has Dr. Jacob Liberman, optometrist and pioneer in the therapeutic use of light and color,  and the art of mind-body integration.   Dr. Liberman’s work has centered around developing a way for treating the cause of human ailments—physical, mental and spiritual— with light and color. In his brilliant book, Light: Medicine of the Future,  Dr. Liberman integrates the biochemical, psychological and spiritual properties of light.  He says the awareness of how light and color affect our lives was expounded upon as far back as 1840 by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, whose dying words suggested that  the “second shutter”  be opened in order to let “more light come in.”  He was not referring to the window blinds, but rather to the third eye” of the pineal gland.  Three different eyes were thought to exist: the flesh eyes for visual perception of light, the “eye of reason,” or “mental eye” and the “contemplative eye,” which Goethe says, “appreciates God.”  Dr. Liberman suggests that we must “integrate our vision to incorporate all the three eyes, as well as opening up the second shutter, but in doing so, we begin to open up our vision in a way that opens up our lives.”  Further, he cites Jonathan Swift’s insightful words, who wrote, “‘Real vision is the ability to see the invisible.’”   Liberman’s view is that by integrating these three eyes, we can experience what otherwise seems invisible.

Dr. Liberman explains how the average individual perceives only a small fraction of the stimuli coming at them from the environment.  “My personal experience is that as the inner eye opens, as we begin to see what at one time we felt was invisible, we tune into a broader spectrum, not only of the electromagnetic spectrum, but of the subtle energies that are not even within this electromagnetic spectrum.”   The word subtle relative to energies speaks to me of spiritual or ethereal light; that which is behind and before solar light and fills the spaces between the elements of the molecular world.   We are speaking here of the substance of love which creates a bond between us and with the natural world around us.

Speaking of the primary function of the Pineal Body, Liberman attributes the very primal instinct of bonding between individual life forms, such as between parent and child, to the all encompassing role of the Pineal.  “This bond,” he writes, “thought to develop out of the ‘heart-to-heart’ synchronization between mother and child, is a microcosm of humanity’s synchronized relationship with nature and the rest of the universe.”

Acting much as a light meter and physiological metronome attached to the physical eyes, the Pineal relays information received through the hypothalamus about the outside world of space and time, such as the length of the days and the seasons of the year,  to the body and the mind by way of hormonal messengers, alerting the body to the need to generate changes. These hormones alter moods, circadian (twenty-four-hour) rhythms and seasonal reproductive cycles so as to synchronize with changes in the natural world with which we are connected.

Dr. Liberman continues:

The timing of physiological events is very critical to the health and propagation of a species.  Since the pineal gland seems to adjust the entire physiology of organisms to their environment, the physical size of this gland seems to vary according to where animals live.  Thus, the pineal is relatively small in animals living at or near the equator, whereas its size increases proportionately the further north or south of the equator animals live.

In certain species, such as the elephant seal, the pineal gland at birth occupies 50% of the brain.  If the size of the human pineal gland is directly related to the degree to which living creatures are in touch with their environment, does the size of the human pineal (pea size) indicate something about the state of our consciousness?  Would a change in our consciousness, and a closer connection between us and nature, increase the size of our pineals?  Whatever the answer to these questions, respect for nature by all living creatures is not only a moral necessity but is definitely crucial to the longevity and quality of life. . . .  In creatures such as birds, lizards, and fish, light stimulates the pineal by penetrating directly through the skull.  In many reptiles, the pineal has all the photo-receptive elements characteristic of an eye. It is therefore referred to as a “third eye” because, in many creatures, it resembles an eye in both structure and activity.  However, in humans, as well as in all hairy creatures, light stimulates the pineal exclusively by way of our eyes, therefore making it an integral part of the visual system.  The technical name of the pineal is epiphysis cerebri, which literally means “top of the brain.” It is my belief that humans originally also received light stimulation through the top of the head, as is vividly described in many metaphysical and ancient spiritual writings. This indicates that at one point in human evolution, perhaps prior to the development of the brain hemispheres, the pineal may have actually been positioned at the top of the human brain. . . .  Today, the pineal is recognized as playing a major role in every aspect of human function.  It acts as the “regulator of regulators.”  Aside from its documented effects on reproductive function, growth, body temperature, blood pressure, motor activity, sleep, tumor growth, mood, and the immune system, it also seems to be a factor in longevity. (pp. 31-33)

Whatever the evolutionary history of this tiny gland, its very existence appears to haunt us, as little was known of its purpose and function until recently.  Although it has tended to be rejected as having any significant role to play in the body,  it has been discovered that it plays an intimate and vital role with the eyes.  I suspect at one time—perhaps before “the Fall” when Man lived in the Garden of Eden—it served as an internal eye, a vibrational “window of heaven,” through which we were able to “see” into the realms of light, into heaven, and communicate daily with the LORD God.

–The Pineal enthroned atop the Corpora Quadrigemina–

Considering its makeup of retinal tissue and its close association with the corpora quadrigemina with its relay stations for auditory and visual impulses, one can even imagine how the Pineal may have served as a transmitter of sorts by which we heard the heavenly sounds of angelic voices singing in the realms of light.

I like to think of the Pineal Body as the throne of deity on earth, the deity of divine being,  a remarkably exact reflection of the “throne set in heaven” John describes in the Book of Revelation in the Bible, even  down to the fine details of  the “four beasts full of eyes before and behind,” the significance of which we shall explore shortly.

Of the seat of the soul Uranda says this:

Meditation upon the Cosmic Principles of Light, Love and Life, keeping the attention centered in the Seat of the Soul—that is, IN the Throne of thy Father within thee, in the center of thy head— seeking the while to detect the INFLOW of Cosmic Vibrations through thy hair, followed by the OUTFLOW through thy WHOLE body in a glorious  Radiance of the Christ in which thy WHOLE, HOLY BEING is enfolded, will speed thy conscious comprehension of the ONE TRUTH that thou art ONE with the ALL that is ONE.   (Steps To Mastership, Lesson 43)

An excellent pineal attunement technique is toning with one’s focus in the forehead where the “third eye” is sending out radiant beams of light. Toning a high pitch will resonate with the high frequency of this sacred energy center.

I welcome your thoughts and inspirations. I will continue in my next post with a consideration of the spiritual significance of the Pineal gland as the focus for the Spirit of Love. Until then,

Be love. Be loved.

The Elixir of Your Immortal Self

Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey” is a quest for the “Elixir of Immortality.” The quest ends when the seeker finally realizes that what he is looking for is the one who is looking. That One is the Immortal Self, known when expressed in living — the only way you can know your Self.

You cannot see yourself, for a state cannot observe itself.  Whatever you can see isn’t you. You are the invisible One who is looking out through the windows of your soul at a world of motion and illusion, itself made of light and sound. Even you body is not you. It is your temple made of light and sound. You are the Immortal One incarnate in your temple of light. You can know your Self by expressing the qualities of your Immortal Self.

YOUR TRUE QUALITIES

The qualities of your Immortal Self are seven-fold. They are: patience, tranquility, blessing, assurance, radiance, wisdom and love. These are the gifts of Spirit. Each one is a step along the Way to your Temple of Light, the first step being Patience. Patience leads to Tranquility of mind. A tranquil mind leads to the Realization of the Blessing you are to your world. Being the Blessing you are, consistently, purifies your heart and brings Assurance that you are worthy of giving and receiving love — that love is who and what you are. Assurance brings the Radiance of Life to your body-temple and to your words and expression. Wisdom is the sixth gift of Spirit and the sixth step to the Temple of Light — the sense of what is fitting in each moment. Love, the seventh step, brings you fully into your Temple of Light where you know your Immortal Self as One with the All. I Am that I AM. I am the light of my world.

SACRED ANATOMY

You have spiritual anatomy for the expression of these qualities. You are equipped with seven endocrine glands that are designed to produce hormonal chemistry appropriate for the expression of your spirit in each moment of living, as well as the appropriate physiological action in your body. All you have to do is sound a tone that resonates with the Spirit of Love in your expression and the hormones needed for the moment are immediately secreted directly into your blood stream and throughout your body. It’s that simple.

You do not have to generate these qualities of spirit. They are part of your Immortal Self. They are who and what you are. To know and enjoy them in this temporal and mortal realm of Creation, you need only give them expression through your heart, mind and body. When expressed, these qualities of Spirit shape your world, as well as your perception of it.

I explore this spiritual anatomy in my book SACRED ANATOMY.  Here is the introduction:

INTRODUCTION

Over my forty-two years of service as a holistic practitioner, I have frequently meditated on and pondered the anatomy and physiology of the human body, noting in wonderment how in form and function it truly does provide a beautifully adorned and aptly furnished temple for worship, and more. I have noted from personal experience how the human body, fully serving its ordained purpose as a capacity for incarnation of divine being, not only manifests health but begins to give evidence of the presence of divine being. It becomes peaceful within and radiant with light.

From my early adulthood I have known innately that as it would be returned to its true and sacred service as a temple of worship, the human body would prove to be a most potent vessel, a holy grail, for uplifting the essences of atomic substance to the Creator, who made it for this purpose. It is simply designed that way. In such sacred service it would itself be lifted up to a higher and finer vibratory frequency for even greater service to the One in the Divine Design for Man. That greater service is the radiant outpouring of creative love that blesses and transforms whatever substance comes into its sacred space-a priestly function of incarnate divine being on this physical plane of the whole, holy world.

I have always felt that as we would see what is actually present with us in our own physical, mental and spiritual anatomy and physiology, we would have at least a beginning understanding of ourselves as creator beings. We would, therefore, have a better clue as to how we might function in such a way as to bring our incarnating capacities into a state of alignment with the creative power of love and in phase and harmony with the Creative Process that fathers and mothers it, along with all the myriad forms of life on earth. For the purpose of the human body is not separate from that of the Creative Process that has lifted it up from out of the dust of the ground of our Earth Mother and brought it forth through Her womb into the world for highly specialized creative work. It is part of that divinely ordered process as a sacred instrument of creation itself. Further, it is my deep conviction that as it would be used to embrace that work fully, this temple would continually enjoy not only the health that is its birthright but the ecstasy of ascension and union with God for which it was created in the beginning-no longer as dust returning to dust but dust arising unto splendor.

What follows in the pages of this book are the fruits of inspiration gleaned from my own medi-tations as I have pondered the beauty and sacredness of the human body and learned to work with its impeccable wisdom as a health care practitioner. My presentation will be in three parts.

First we will consider our presence as creator beings in these body temples — “angels”incarnate, each one, and all together as a collective body — and the divine technology at work in the design and construction of our bodies as powerful, creative instruments for the conveyance of divine light into the field of creation around us, utilizing the seven hormonal glands of the endocrine system in concert with the Chakra system. We will look at the design and purpose of these glands and Chakra centers as well as their function both as hormone generators and as sacred centers for energy transformation and release.

We will then enter the temple through the “Inner Sanctum,” hidden and protected within the sanctuary provided by the cerebral lobes of the brain. Here our focus will be on the first three sacred “seals” of the endocrine system which bring forth life in the temple. We will explore how much in our life experience is resting upon our right function in relationship to sacred energy.

Then, leaving the inner sanctum, we will explore the outer rooms of the temple and appreciate the alchemy at work through the various services rendered by the remaining four endocrine glands. Their work includes the radiant release and management of the creative current of love. They serve in officiating the “Ceremony of Ascension” by which are lifted up the responsive currents of worshipful tithes from out of the Natural World into a place of pristine stillness. It includes preparing the way for the creative command to be given by which the will of the One is done on earth as it is in heaven. Our role as stewards of the Creative Process is crucial to the Natural World and to life on this planet.

In the closing chapter, “Steps of Ascent,” we will examine the process of resurrection and ascension as modeled by the Master Jesus two-thousand years ago and the impact which his life has had on the body of mankind then and now. We will see our body temples in a larger context of ancient and biblical temple worship, as well as of the cathedral planet that is its home among the stars.

Our sacred anatomy offers a very powerful and personal theme for meditation. This book was written to evoke deep currents in the heart for the sacred in everyday life. I have endeavored to make it both profound and practical, as well as informative. Writing it has been a challenging and fulfilling undertaking. It has been challenging to the extent it is personal and therefore revealing of the heart’s secret and sacred places. It has been fulfilling because it has called out for over a decade to be written as a passion that longs to be spoken and a song that yearns to be sung.

We all possess cherished and well-protected beliefs and concepts, which are as numerous as the peoples, religions and cultures of the world. Yet there is only one infinite Reality manifesting through myriad forms. Meditations of the heart on infinite Reality are not always as neat and tidy as the finite words, concepts and beliefs the mind is accustomed to processing and entertaining. Therefore I ask you to discern for yourself the heart space from which I write, especially when our mental concepts and beliefs do not agree. As we abide in the spirit behind the words, I know we will find ourselves, for the most part, in a place of agreement, even though our beliefs may differ. The truth is what I seek to know and teach, along with the freedom such knowing brings, even freedom from concepts and beliefs about it — perhaps especially from such concepts and beliefs. If there is something you have read but just cannot seem to grasp, then simply move on and come back to it later. Perhaps your understanding will deepen as you read other chapters.

I trust that you will find as much inspiration reflecting on these things as I continue to derive working closely with the anatomy and physiology of the human body as a healthcare practitioner. Let us begin our journey, then, and set forth on our exploration of the colorful landscape and fine texture of our sacred anatomy. Let us walk together with unshod feet upon the holy ground and precious terrain of the sacred anatomy of this temple that provides a place of abode for the living
God.

“The Hero’s Journey” . . . . . Part 1: True Heroism

I always look forward to hearing from my readers and followers, and I am delighted when I do. A long-time follower and “colleague-in-eldership,” Peter Watson, offered this thought-full insight on my last post, “Seizing the Elixir of Immortality.”

LIFE’S PURPOSE — OUR PURPOSE — NO HEROICS OR SACRIFICE

The Hero has apparently lost consciousness, or been conscious-ness-compromised, or deprived, by educational trauma. Educational trauma can be caused by unconscious parents, fools in the schooling system, political-spin instigating patriotism, but more likely from the identity-crisis at the root of religion that imagines a separation from God, and thereby instills the suppressive factor of low self-esteem.

Constitutional conditioning, from men afflicted by the same false-start of an imaginary separation from God, cobbled together the Constitution which seeded the ills of America by the very rights that are only experienced through our oneness with God. Liberty is only known as we express the truth-of-God; happiness is known in the love-of-God. We are not ordained to seek happiness, but to bring it, and to be burdened by words that suggest we need to seek happiness is to further oneself from experiencing the happiness of God.

If this is so, the ‘nemesis’ is obviously the self-active human mind, which assumes an ego-identity, in early childhood, and from which it seldom if ever matures. And wouldn’t the ego just love to seize and control immortality; but it is always eventually faced with the fact that it cannot manipulate life, except superficially, for a few years, until it kicks-the-bucket. Unless, that is, the ego-identity is overcome by maturing – through all the stages of evolution, from babyhood through adulthood to manhood and womanhood, and then on to angelhood when one becomes aware that heaven and earth are one, and we are then free to enjoy life in furthering the expression of Fatherhood and Motherhood, as was so beautifully and masterfully demonstrated by Jesus when he walked on Earth.

I appreciate your observation on the changing/evolving status of cash-worship, which is otherwise the same as in the day of Jesus; that may be one of the last strongholds of false security to be surrendered, although it should be apparent by now that it’s really not worth waiting for death to take it all away.

WHO IS THE HERO ?

True heroism is to be found in one who lays down his or her life for another human being—physically or metaphorically—once characterized as having “No greater love….”

There are many heroes today who jump into the line of fire to save the lives of others without a moment’s concern for their own safety. Neither do they think of themselves as heroes. Some even say they just did what was obviously needed in the moment and what anyone with common sense would have done. Many have lost their lives in the selfless act of saving others. No greater love is there than when we see someone in trouble as ourselves and are moved by some compelling force—perhaps self-preservation—to give our all in saving them from perishing. For me it demonstrates the abiding sense of oneness that lies just beneath the surface play of senses that keep telling us we are separate from one another—and from God.

The reality is we are God’s presence on Earth, and what we do to and for another we do to and for ourselves and God. As Peter says in his comment, we have simply lost consciousness of our oneness with God and with one another. In romantic terms, we, as a family of many and diverse members, have fallen out of love with one another, and for pitiful reasons: the colors of our skins, the beliefs we hold dear, the country from which we migrate to find a better and safer life, and the differing political views to which we aspire. These are all unworthy excuses we maintain in order to avoid facing the fact that we are one family of diverse and colorful people united in a shared Breath of Life.

GOVERNANCE BY LOVE

The illusion of separation from the Creator spawns a sense of desperation and of being lost in the dark shadows of isolation. No longer governed by the Creator’s loving and trustworthy control and design for life on earth, the human mind has commandeered the kingdoms of this world to make them serve its own pleasures and demands. Self-centered activity on the part of humankind has alienated the kingdoms of this world. They were created to serve the pleasures and commands of the Creator, the command of love, not our hateful and greedy self-serving demands.

There is a dilemma in our relationship with the world of Mother Nature stemming from the fact that we are the face of Father Creator on Earth, but our actions belie our countenance and betray the trust placed in us by Creation. Betrayed, the natural world conspires to defeat and eliminate humankind. We are so caught up in our own self-activity and self-importance that we do not see that the viruses attacking our flesh bodies arise out of the planet’s own immune system. Viruses are scavengers whose mission and purpose are to clean up toxic waste and foreign matter. In human physiology, they appear whenever and wherever they are needed in the body to clean up metabolic waste, composed mostly of dead and dying cells.

WE ARE THE NEMESIS

Humankind, in its arrogant self-activity, is a nemesis to the natural world. We are the Guardians of the Threshold to the Elixir of Immortality . . . and, like the Scribes and Pharisees in Jesus’ time, we refuse to enter the Kingdom of Heaven at hand and all around us, and we deny the kingdoms of this world access to the Elixir of Immortality, which our true stewardship would provide for them. Our bodies are under attack by the immune system of the natural world and the planet, and we will not survive this attack unless we turn around from our self-activity and return to the Creator’s governance by love, and share that governance of love with the kingdoms of this world, so that they may once again come under the controls of cosmic order and harmony and restored to a state of balance under our stewardship and loving care.

We can begin by stopping our rape of the the planet’s resources and the pollution of our water and air. Then we can wake up and see how we are poisoning our own species with cancer-causing chemicals in our food, our clothing and our commercial building materials. We can stop using plastic, or at least recycle and repurpose it rather than pollute our rivers and oceans with waste. But before we’ll make any of these changes — to save our own hides — we need to wake up! And wake up our sleeping friends and neighbors!

ARE WE BEING UPGRADED AND REPURPOSED ?

I don’t know but that perhaps David Wilcock is reading the “Source Field” accurately and our sojourn on planet Earth as third-density entities is coming to completion as the planet itself move into becoming a fourth-density habitation for evolved human beings. If this is so, then we are on the right track to the dissolution of our third-density forms to prepare the way for the habitation by a fourth-density human race.  There seems no way to stop the wave of self-destruction carrying our species out to sea…literally in some places on the planet.

Life, liberty and happiness are our’s to have and to share freely with one another and with our world. To echo a line in my reader’s comment, freedom is experienced only when we express the truth of love. The truth of love is oneness. Let us regain our consciousness of oneness, the gold in our hero’s quest, the Elixir of Immortality. For together in love we live for as long as the Earth can accommodate us. Divided by hate, we fall into extinction, along with all the other species on Earth in our keeping and under our stewardship. Let us live in love and peace, in harmony with the natural world, in the freedom of truth, and in the happiness of longevity. Let us live for one another.

I will cap this post with a reminder of the full instruction of the Fourth Commandment:

“Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” (Exodus 20:12)

In the larger context, one could apply the instruction in this passage to the necessity and wisdom of honoring our Heavenly Father and our Earthly Mother, both of whom we are fully dependent upon for our life and longevity.  Until my next post,

Be love. Be loved

Wheels Within Wheels – Breaking the Cycles of War, part 1

“Ezekiel saw the wheel, way up in middle of the air. It’s a wheel in a wheel, way up in the middle of the air.  Now the little wheel turns by faith, and the big wheel turns by the grace of God. It’s a wheel in a wheel, way up in the middle of the air.”

The lyrics above are from a Gospel song. I remember the Bible story from my youth; it read then like a heavenly visitation.  When I read the story today, it reads more like a visit by aliens from outer space. The description of the image itself could well be that of a spaceship with wings and fire spewing out of its thrusters. As for the message this “Lord” gave Ezekiel to deliver to the Israelites, which takes up the bulk of the book, it unfolds as a chastisement and purging of the Jewish population.

This engenders in me a suspicion that the many and diverse peoples and nations on the planet may well have their roots in genetic projects installed by aliens from other star systems who came here in spaceships to find a viable atmosphere and terrain for their projects to develop and evolve. The Israelites, in this scenario, were one such project that had apparently gone sour.

According to the story, the people thought their Creator had abandoned them and left them to their own devices. They became rebellious and fell into whorish and adulterous behavior, inbreeding with the Egyptians, yet another genetic project.  The cleansing slaughter of the rebellious ones and their adulterated progeny was an apparent effort at purifying the gene pool in order to create a “Chosen People.” What resulted from this bloody purging was the emergence of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

It’s a fascinating story, especially if one reads it as one chapter in the history of the origins of the peoples and nations currently populating the planet.  What do we really know about our origins?  Have these aliens returned to check on their projects? Are they at war with one another over exclusive rights to the planet for their projects? And do they pit us against one another, nation against nation, to fight their battles? All of these questions and more investigative author David Wilcock addresses in his provocative book The Synchronicity Key.

SYNCHRONICITY – CYCLES WITHIN CYCLES

The “wheels within wheels” image has been used metaphorically in describing cycles of various kinds, such as seasonal and cosmic cycles that repeat yearly, and in some instances over hundreds and thousands of years. Our four seasons are examples of yearly cycles. The Mayan’s “Great Year,” consisting of 25,920 years, is an example of a larger cycle that moves in increments of 1260 years of Earth’s precession through the twelve “Houses” of the Zodiac, which in turn move through 540-year quarter cycles.  Each cycle initiates and completes a stage of evolution of our solar system and of our species.

The planets spiral through the cosmos, although they appear to move in circular orbits around our sun.  The sun, of course, is not stationary but is flying through space in its own orbit around the Central Sun of the Milky Way Galaxy, which itself is traveling through space. You can easily invision, then, colossal spirals being traced in space by our solar system. The entire picture is one of wheels within wheels.

These wheels are turned by electrical energy (the “grace of God” perhaps?) spiraling — as we saw in my blog series “Masculine/Feminine Energy” — in opposite directions inward and outward in relation to a central vortex, of which there are an infinite number that make up the visible universe. According to Walter Russell, it is this dynamic dance of the positive/negative, masculine/feminine energetic forces that drives the rotation and revolution of heavenly bodies and keeps them moving.

Our physical body alone is composed of countless electromagnetic fields of energy that interact with one another under the direction of Intelligence inherent within energy itself — and where there is Intelligence there is Consciousness through which it works.  Being part of a microcosm that shares an intimate working relationship with a macrocosm, we are impacted by what goes on energetically in these two realms of the “creating universe.” By the same intimate relationship, what goes on in our realm of activity, creatively and destructively, impacts the microcosm and the macrocosm. The field where this impact occurs is the Collective Consciousness which we share with our solar Entity.

I have frequently referred to our solar system as an Entity in my writings, and for good reason, as well as accuracy.  Our star system with planets orbiting a central sun is a living entity embodying the Great Father Spirit, just as our planet Earth is a living entity embodying the Great Mother Gaia. Our solar Entity generates a Mind which we share — one Mind shared by all living beings on the planet.  Mind and matter are created by Consciousness seeded by the Creator. We are the Creator incarnate, and we have been using our Collective Consciousness to create a world upon the face of the Earth, not all of which is in harmony with the Natural World created by Father Sun and Mother Earth.

THE “HERO’S JOURNEY” AND THE GLOBAL ADVERSARY & NEMESIS

There have always been those who have taken selfish advantage of this realm of creating consciousness by sowing the seeds of greed and fear in its sacred soil, manipulating the masses to give up their power to their elected leaders who have sworn an oath to protect them.  In our day, they are the “negative elite” who control the world’s finances.

Known as the “Cabal,” they are comprised primarily of the central banking system with financial depositories both here and abroad. It was established during the First World War period when the Federal Reserve was created as a central “depository” for all the gold that was taken from the countries that were defeated and/or destroyed in the wars with an ill-begotten and dishonest plan that it would be used to secretly back up their currencies. According to David Wilcock’s investigations, this mass confiscation of gold started in 1895 when the Japanese invaded Korea and plundered their central banks. The pillage spread to other countries, including Germany whose gold was taken by the Bolsheviks and used to create the Soviet Union.  We have gold and silver, but the Federal Reserve will not allow the government to create our currency. Two presidents tried it and both were assassinated. Credit and debt are what back up our currency — and channel interest profits into their coffers. The pity of it all is that we the people allow it.

Those countries that refused to give up their gold for “safe keeping” in the Federal Reserve had their gold forcefully taken, never to be returned to these countries, although some demanded a return.  The Cabal uses its stolen and acquired wealth to finance both sides of wars — which the Cabal itself instigate by fraudulent means in order to reap huge profits that flow into their pockets from the Military Industrial Complex. But that’s not the entire gist of the story.

This story is about “The Hero’s Journey” Joseph Campbell conceived and wrote about. The story itself is as ancient as the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Paradise and the legendary Quest for the Holy Grail, what Campbell calls the “Elixir of Immortality.” The story forms the very structure of all successful screenplays for movies. The hero with his/her flaws strikes out on a journey in search of the desires and longings of his/her heart, only to be faced with the “nemesis” that stands between the hero and the prize, often his/her own character flaw and shadow.  Either he/she will defeat the nemesis or be defeated by it. This story is not limited to the individual’s life journey and drama, but can be seen played out in the collective by nations and by religions, even by Humanity on a global scale. The Cabal is this civilization’s nemesis that must be faced and defeated if we are to have a future and a Golden Age.

HISTORY DOES REPEAT

There’s much taking place behind the scenes in the cycles of historical events that have been repeating for eons, and specifically since the rise of the Roman Empire with whom we share a Zodiac cycle of 1260 years — and whose various wars are mirrored by the wars on this end of the cycle, history repeating itself in patterns of corruption and greed for power and control over the wealth and natural resources of nations. In some instances, according to Wilcock’s investigations, the key instigators and players themselves reincarnating in an effort to clean up their karma and achieve a more positive outcome in their hero’s journey and quest for the elixir of immortality.

For example, Wilcock cites the astonishing similar facial features of Adolf Hitler and the Carthaginian warlord Hannibal, a typical aspect of true reincarnations. These two warlords, who rose to power in the same year separated by 2160 years, had similar battle tactics as well. Hannibal (221 BC) crossed the French Alps with his giant elephants to invade Carthage, and Hitler (1939) invaded Poland with his army of tanks. They both had issues with the Jewish Nation as well. The name Hannibal means “Ba’al is my lord” or “With the grace of Ba’al,” the equivalent of “Satan” in Hebrew, becoming “Beelzebub, Lord of the Flies,” the very nemesis of the Hebrew Nation.  Hitler conducted his holocaust against the Jews in the concentration camps of Nazi Germany. Both were betrayed and committed suicide.

President Richard Nixon shares a Zodiac cycle with look-alike Roman Emperor Scipio Africanus, both men offering bribes to enemy countries to end or extend their wars so as to benefit them politically. President Jimmy Carter shares a 1260-year cycle with his look-alike Cato, the Roman Censor, both men exerting their political efforts in restoring the morality of their countries in the wake of Nixon and Scipio respectively.

In most instances, however, it is the patterns of human thought and behavior, deeply ingrained into the collective consciousness and human psyche, that find easy access to resonant substance in mentally disturbed individuals who then act out these patterns of sociopathic and psychopathic behavior in atrocities of all kinds.  It has been estimated that globally approximately three percent of men and one percent of women are sociopaths.

THE WAR CYCLE IS BROKEN

Take heart, however, for the cycle of repetitious wars has been broken in our time. This part of the story I will leave to David Wilcock himself and his highly acclaimed book, from which I will excerpt a couple of paragraphs that wrap up his investigation in an optimistic and encouraging summary.

A Grand, Compassionate Design

Now that we have passed the Mayan calendar end date of December 21, 2012, we have crossed over into the Age of Aquarius, as I argued in The Source Field Investigations. This massive change, propelling us into a Golden Age, has already begun-and will undoubtedly get more and more interesting as time goes by. We can clearly see that the 25,920-year “master cycle” is much more than a slow, boring wobble in the earth’s axis. Instead, it seems to represent a mechanism that is written into the mind of our galaxy and all its stars, planets, and satellites. This grand cycle appears to work like the mainspring in a cosmic clock. It powers our evolutionary path and our events in history through the Hero’s Journey archetypes in nice, neat cycles of time. In Law of One terms, this grand story was carefully planned out, long before we ever got here, as the “preferred method” to help us awaken to the basic need to love one another – regardless of race, color, religion, gender, or nationality. We keep repeating the same events and the same atrocities, until we no longer choose to create them. Once we finally decide not to discriminate against one another, and decide to strive for a better world, peace and freedom will finally be ours for the taking-and we will enter into an unprecedented Golden Age.

We can be much more confident that everything is going to work out once we understand that the most distressing wars and political events are not random. There is a grand, compassionate design to the workings of history that unfold before us. As a collective consciousness, this appears to be the method by which we are ultimately prepared for a whole new way of thinking, acting, and being. Our living universe is not sadistic. We are not meant to simply keep suffering the same wars and atrocities, right on schedule, as if this were some form of ongoing, ritual torture. We do have free will, and this means we do meet up with whatever we create. As we grow and evolve, the histories of our nations can increasingly detach from negative timelines and gravitate toward other, healthier cycles the earth [and I would add the galaxy] has to offer us. We may even experience an epic, worldwide curtain call–the ultimate piercing of the veil. In that case, the whole mechanism and its hidden players, both positive and negative, may finally be revealed, and we will enter into an entirely new structure of time itself. This is where the dance of free will comes in. What channel of the greatest show on earth are we collectively deciding to watch? What future are we voting for by the thoughts and actions we take each moment?

A Benevolent Spirit Prevails

Very well said. I believe there is a great and benevolent Spirit embodied by our Milky Way galaxy that is sending out energetic waves of love and compassion that impact our solar system, and that this Spirit is calling for a frequency shift to hasten our evolutionary process and synchronize it with that of the Earth.  If, indeed, historical events do repeat in cycles, what synchronous event will come to pass 2160 years after the victorious Hero’s Journey of the One whose birthday we celebrate at Christmas? Will we have finally come clear of fear and prejudice and truly love one another as ourselves and partake of the Elixir of Immortality?  I hope and pray we will not have to wait that long. I wouldn’t mind coming back for that either.

Until my next post . . .

just be who you are.

Honoring Our Elders . . . . . . and our Progeny

Christmastime is family time, a time when the kids call home, or travel to be with family and loved ones; a time to share in the joy of  being together in an atmosphere of love and generosity, sharing in the Christed spirit that rises in our hearts every year at this time and bubbles over into tree-trimming and decorating, caroling, gift giving and merry making.  The world is transformed in the outpouring of love and joy.  Christmas is obviously good for the economy, too. It’s the giving spirit that fosters abundance.

My thoughts today are of the Elderly watching our offspring from afar as they create an altogether different world than the one in which we grew up and raised families of our own.  Closer to home, I think of our dearly departed Mother who spent the last days of her ninety-years on earth in a care center.  None of us eight siblings were in a position to provide care for her in her home, where she wanted to spend her last days.  Closer yet, I think of my own Eldership and that of my spouse and fellow septuagenarians whose homemade nests have long been empty.  Ours are both “broken homes” whose family members live miles apart from one another making it stressful for our children to visit both parents and both grandparents during the holidays, assuming they can afford to travel at all.  Thankfully, we have electronic media like Skype and Google Duo and Hangout, or ZOOM, to bring us closer together, at least virtually.

It’s a bit disheartening to see how our elders are set aside into care centers where they can be properly cared for while we get on with our busy lives. Gone are the days when we provided living quarters in our homes, or on our properties, for our ageing parents and grandparents — but not that far gone. Our parents actually built a cottage in our backyard for our grandparents. Our ancestry is Sicilian, and Italians historically honored their fathers and their mothers and took great care of them.  “The Godfather” portrays this tradition in extreme.  What has changed?

It seems the youth of today want to distance themselves from their roots and their elders as soon as possible, especially when  our wisdom of yesteryear doesn’t seem to help them handle the complex world of today into which they have been thrust — nor facilitate the realization of their own dreams and aspirations.  They have their own thoughts, as we are reminded by Kahlil Gibran.  Sometimes we find ourselves turning to them for help navigating this new terrain of electronics and economic uncertainty.

Now, I do appreciate the obvious need to let go of the past and “the way we’ve always done things” for centuries and millennia.  Tradition has always attempted to stand in the way of “progress.” I say “attempted” because progress inevitably wins out over “TRADITION!” — as Tevye finds out in “Fiddler On The Roof.”  And I suppose I should not have implied by my use of quotation marks that progress isn’t really progressive. All too often, it seems, so-called “improvements” only make things worse and more difficult, especially when my computer software updates itself, and when Facebook makes changes in the way we navigate social media.  Changes seem so much more a bother as we age and resist shifts in our routines.

“HOMO UNIVERSALIS”

Sometimes progress is an improvement, even inevitable as our species progresses through a radical transformation, both in consciousness and in physical form — becoming an entirely new species, according to such forward thinkers as Barbara Marks Hubbard and others.  I like the way she sees herself and all of us as being “on the other side of our lives” and “becoming newer” rather than older.  We are being upgraded genetically by Cosmic forces that are altering our very DNA, turning on genetic switches that have lay dormant for thousands of years.  No, we are definitely not the same species we were a hundred years ago, even fifty.

This is so evident today with the arrival of the electronic age in which our grandchildren are needed to show us older folks how to use and troubleshoot our cell phones and computers, both new and complicated additions to our “old-school” ways of communicating by phone and “snail” mail. Who writes letters anymore? Our ageing Mother, rest her soul, after hearing a daughter talk about her hassle with her computer, asked in her beautiful ignorance, “What in the world is a mouse doing on your desktop?!”  We all enjoyed a good laugh, realizing at the same time the obvious gap her query brought to light  between the old and the new.  I continue to be amused while listening to one of our sons who works in the tech field talk about his work using what sounds like a foreign language to us.  They speak in acronyms these days rather than with fully-worded sentences.  The youth of today were born with brains hardwired for this new electronic age. Where is it all heading?  Apparently toward a totally new species, which one author recently dubbed “Homo Universalis,” one level up from Homo Sapiens.

Honoring Our Bridges

All I can say to this upcoming generation is, while your lifestyle and technology are rightly leaving us old folks behind, please do not forget us. We are the bridges you all crossed over in order to get where you are today, and you do not need to burn all your bridges, just the ones you don’t need any longer and are holding you back.  We do still want to at least feel needed. The bridges we are will fall away soon enough leaving you the simple legacy and memory of our loving and caring presence in your early years of growing up and assuming your rightful places in the world, a world that you will transform beyond recognition in your day.  We are always glad when you call home occasionally to see how we’re doing — and to share your lives and your worlds with us — but especially to say those heart-warming and family-binding words, “I love you.” Really, all we want is to hear from you as often as possible and to reaffirm the love we have for one another and our ongoing presence, and interest, in your lives and in your worlds. Our children do that and it does lighten our lives and bring joy to our hearts.

I would like to  leave you with these words of “The Prophet” Kahlil Gibran that have been, and continue to be, a source of light upon our shared parental path.

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, speak to us of children. And he said: Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward or tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children like living arrows are sent forth. The Archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with his might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the Archer’s hand be for gladness; for even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

I read somewhere that we are loved more than we will ever know.  I know this to be so, and I feel it more as I age and leave behind my illusions of limitation and low self-esteem. That’s a big one for so many of us to overcome.  I know for a fact that I am worthy of love — that I am love. You are loved more than you will ever know. You are love.

Until my next post in the New Year,

Be love. Be loved.

Rise of the Masculine In Men and Women

Taken 12/01/2012

For the past several decades, we have been experiencing the “Rise of the Feminine.” This resurgence of feminine energy in virtually all sectors of society — including the political sector, which has traditionally been dominated by men in both the congressional and the executive branches — is being met with much welcome and celebration by both women and men.  The infusion of estrogen into the bloodstream of the body politic has been a refreshing and nurturing reprieve from the testosterone-laden climate in Washington and elsewhere. Let’s face it, guys, the aggressive corporate male of our species has taken us down the industrial path to an existential crisis, according to climatologists — not that the shadow side of women’s wiles haven’t played their alluring part.  Both genders have let our shadow sides take the lead in human endeavors to achieve what we each want out of life.  Notwithstanding all of the competitive strife, we are encouraged, I believe, by the rising of the female of our species to help bring about a balance, and hopefully a change in our suicidal course toward extinction. The Masculine is rising alongside the Feminine.

I take note of the fact that in virtually all situations where women are speaking out and taking on leadership roles, there are men present in the mix supporting them — which may well be being prompted by the rise of feminine energy is men, as we men are “getting in touch,” as we say, with own own femininity. So, I thought it timely, in the wake of my recent series on masculine-feminine energy, to acknowledge the Rise of the Masculine prior to and alongside the Rise of the Feminine, and perhaps see it in a new light.  It could well be that women are also experiencing the rise of their own Masculine energy while men are experiencing the rise of their Feminine energy.  Whatever the scenario, something of a balancing of these two energetic creative forces is trying to take place in the Human species.

MASCULINE AND FEMININE Vs MALE AND FEMALE

In these articles I have been capitalizing the words “Masculine” and “Feminine,” but not the words “male” and “female,” for the purpose of differentiating between energy and gender, a distinction I made in my last post.  For me, the words “Masculine” and “Feminine” represent the Divine creating energy of the Universal One Walter Russell writes about, which is shared in a co-creative partnership with Man, who was created both male and female. The words “male” and “female” represent the specific genders of our species, distinguished by our anatomical, chemical (hormonal), physical and psychological makeup.

While I celebrate the men who have risen up with the women in support of their movement underway — a movement that is boldly ignoring the domineering male ego while giving women back their power and voice to speak and be heard and assume their rightful place in the forefront of human endeavors as equal partners in co-creation with men — I am also cognizant of the energetic factors at play behind the scene, so-to-speak, in the spiritual or vibrational levels of our Being, as well as in the larger galactic context. There is something much larger and grander afoot in the overall scheme of things than the rather miniscule “battle of the sexes” that’s been being waged for all too many centuries now.  It’s time we took a break from our competitive warring and put a listening ear to the shifting frequency of the harmonic Tone sounding in our galactic home among the stars.

We’re not just being invited to harmonize with this Tone, which is sounding the vibrational frequency of Love. We are being compelled to do so or perish. What we have created on Earth, and the way we have been behaving toward one another and toward our planet, can no longer be sustained by the Tone of Love — and the Tone of Love is what creates and sustains the Natural World, the Earth and our entire Universe.  Love has accommodated us thus far in our evolution from out of the cave world into which we tumbled in our fall from grace, but it is moving on in the larger cycles of planetary evolution and transformation, and we need to hurry and finish growing up in order to move on with it — and not as passive passengers but as active stewards of the evolution of our species and of our planet.  And, yes, that is a mouth full.

So, a timely and compelling resurgence of both Masculine and Feminine energy is afoot, and it has nothing to do with women’s and men’s so-called “rights.” It’s much larger than that. It’s about the creation of a new world that is in harmony with the Tone of the Universal One and the Natural World itself.

THE RISE OF THE FEMININE IN MEN

The “Rise of the Feminine” is not so much or merely a women’s movement as it is a natural and timely movement of the Divine Feminine energy through the body of Mankind. In other words, the rise of the Divine Feminine is taking place in both genders of our species, in women and men alike, and it is doing so simultaneously with and in response to the rise of the creating force of the Divine Masculine.

It wasn’t too many years ago that we saw the “Men’s Movement” sweep through our species here in America and elsewhere. These two movements are taking place in both men and women, and they’re doing so at a time when the “New Earth” project is emerging from out of the “New Heaven” — something that men and women throughout the world have been welcoming into their consciousness yea these many, many years since the dawning of the “Age of Aquarius.”

If you’ve read my previous two posts — and if you haven’t then I would encourage you to do so — you will recall how Walter Russell describes the Masculine force of energy as the attractive, magnetic, contracting and integrating force of the Universe moving centripetally (inward) toward the apex of a spiraling vortex. The Feminine force he describes as the radiant, expelling and disintegrative force moving centrifugally (outward) from the apex of the same spiraling vortex of energy.  The Masculine builds up form while the Feminine dismantles form in a creative destructive process of clearing the deck, so-to-speak, for the creation of the next new form — only one of her more nurturing roles. This creative process is ongoing eternally at both the level of consciousness (cause) and the level of form (effect).  Mental constructs and outdated concepts and belief systems are discarded in this way.

We are experiencing such a discard now, along with a radical revision and transformation of our consciousness that is allowing us to invision new possibilities for life on Earth. To refer back to a Biblical prophecy, the “old heaven” and the “old earth” are passing away in our time, making room for a “New Heaven” and the “New Earth” to manifest. The image of the “New Jerusalem,” if you will, has descended down from God out of Heaven into the consciousness of enough human beings on earth to begin transforming our collective consciousness. We see it and feel it as a real possibility.

It’s time for us to go to work now as equal partners in letting a New Earth and a New World be born — a vision and dream that was held by one of our own generation, the late Scott Peck, beloved author of “The Road Less Traveled” and “A World Waiting To Be Born” — whom I celebrate with profound gratitude.  The dream has been dreamt. The image is firmly planted in our consciousness, as Simon and Garfunkel sang out some years back when the cancerous “Silence” was being disturbed and broken and we began to speak our truth in poems, songs, books, blogs and demonstrations.

My wife Bonnie and I recently saw the movie Bohemian Rhapsody about the British rock band Queen and their amazing lead singer, Freddie Mercury, played by Remi Malek in an outstanding performance worthy of an Oscar. I don’t know if some of the film footage was of Queen’s actual concert at Knebworth in 1986 or not, the last time the four original members of Queen performed on stage together and when they sang that powerful mantra “We Are The Champions” with the crowd. Over a million people attended that Queen tour, one of the largest ever, which was part of a global “Aids Benefit” for the famine in Ethiopia involving several bands in various locations. But the sight and sound of so many young people our age all gathered in one place and in one accord was heart stopping.  A shift took place in the way I have been viewing rock concerts, which are not my “cup of tea.” I prefer good jazz and the classics.

Such gatherings have been taking place at concerts all over the world for several decades, and I now see how their “rock” sounds have been instrumental in shattering the silence of the youthful masses, along with the stigmas attached to AIDS and homosexuality, among other fixations in the collective consciousness. They have literally rocked the foundations of our culture and disrupted the status quo.  It is perhaps telling how Freddie and several others in his circle of male friends became confused about their own sexual orientation, feeling the emergence of their femininity, which I felt was given rise by the music they were writing and singing.

But what I also see in all of this is the Feminine force at work clearing out the old to make room for the new. I see a  phenomenon that speaks loudly and clearly that we very much want a new world on the face of our planetary home — and even more obvious, that we have the energy and the power in our hearts to create it — and God knows we have the technology.

THE RISE OF SPIRIT

What we are witnessing and experiencing in our time is the rise of Spirit from within the heart of Humanity — which is the Heart of God incarnate on this planet. It is Love that is drawing us to each other and gathering us in concerts and demonstrations — and also in relationships. Let there be no wavering or doubt that Love is in charge and moving us all into position to do our part each one in revisioning and transforming the consciousness of Humanity by bringing our individual spirits and gifts into the process of creating the New Earth. We simply need to let love command — an unconditional love that “keeps no record of wrong,” as novelist Ted Bekker describes love in his book The Rise of the Mystics, which I just finished reading,  I am finding this kind of love a challenge to have consistently in my heart — and it is the heart that keeps record of wrong.  “Let it go” the song in Frozen sings out.  “Let it go!” I tell my heart.

This morning my wife asked me what I thought these recent blogs are all about, and, more pointedly, what I have learned in writing them. We were having one of those heart-rending moments couples have when love is asking for more and deeper change yet. Perhaps, after some personal reflection and introspection, that could be the content of my next blog — and why not? I have indeed learned much, about myself and about my partner.  I have also learned something about human behavior and the greater potential of success and harmony available to us as co-creators on this beautiful planet Earth, pregnant with life yet to be born, nurtured and stewarded by men and women in partnership with one another in Love’s embrace.

I sincerely thank you for sharing my thoughts and views . . . and I would love sharing yours.  So, email me at tpal70@gmail.com.  Until my next post,

Be love. Be loved,

Masculine-Feminine Energy, part IV: Energy Must Flow

As with a lot of my writings, this post is as much for my own conscious evolution and spiritual transformation as it is for my readers’. If you benefit from them as well, then I am thankful.  This is heady stuff, I will admit. However, we do have minds – although Walter Russell says there is only one Mind we all share – and there are many errors and incomplete truths we hold as sacred in these minds. We are wise to open them up and have another look at things we have been told by those who have gone before. Even the Teacher Jesus said that he had many things to share with his disciples, but they could not “bear” them then.  Well, we’ve evolved since then and there are things we need to unlearn and learn anew. That’s where my passion lies in writing this blog.

So, let the creating, transforming Masculine-Feminine Energy flow as I put fingers to the keyboard and apply a fraction of the newfound knowledge that Walter Russell has left us in his signature work THE UNIVERSAL ONE to our experience and handling of Masculine-Feminine energy.

SUBTLE ENERGY AT WORK

We can be so preoccupied with our creations in life as to become oblivious to the subtle energies at work within us that bring them about. The creating energy of life is very subtle, when one stops to think about it. For example, consider the giant sequoias that have taken decades and even centuries to grow. On a smaller scale, consider the lowly grass blade that seems to grow so fast in Summer that one might even be able to observe it growing. Yet these creations of Mother Nature make no commotion as they slowly increase their mass molecule by molecule. The slow growth of our own bodies testifies to the subtle nature of the creating energy of life.  What Walter Russell presents in his book about energy is also a testament to the subtle but unconquerable nature of life. My desire in this post is to explore some of the implications of his writings. So, I’m just going to write down my thoughts as they present themselves, trusting they will flow together in a coherent manner.

ENERGY MUST FLOW

Energy wants and needs to flow in order to create forms, illusions though they are said to be. Masculine and Feminine forces interacting with one another make possible the flow of creating energy. The creating energy that flows through their interactions is the creative power of Love manifesting the ideas in the Mind of the Creator. This is how Walter Russell’s cosmology works.

When I speak of Masculine and Feminine, I do not equate these words with male and female, nor with men and women. As we now know in this age of enlightenment, these energies are at work in both men and women. The Feminine energy is by design, and hormonal chemistry, more dominant in women and the Masculine energy more dominant in men. This is not always the case, but is generally so.  The ideal would seem to be a balance between these two forces in both men and women — something that I have personally worked at in myself over the past two or three decades.

These two forces are not attracted toward one another, as is commonly thought. Walter Russell’s view is that masculine energy spirals centripetally (inwardly) toward its apex, or vortex center, and is thus contractive and magnetic. Contrarily, feminine energy spirals centrifugally (outwardly) away from its spex and is thus expansive and radiative. One inhales while the other exhales only to restart the inhaling cycle. As the positive masculine force winds inwardly toward its maximum potential charge, it discharges energy via a feminine emoting phase of expansion, much like a spring winding and unwinding. So, there is a continuum here at work. (Is this perhaps what our emotions are all about?)

Russell’s primary point is a correction to the current scientific understanding of the law of attraction. The way he sees this law is that positive charge is attracted to and attracts positive charge, and that negative charge repels both positive and negative charge.

MALE AND FEMALE ATTRACTION

Males and females of the same species couple by reason of the law of attraction: positive attracts positive. This is contrary to the common understanding that positive attracts negative, or that the negative female is attracted to the positive male; that men radiate (positive) and women respond (negative) to men; that women are therefore the “weaker” sex and men the “stronger;” that women are to be obedient and subservient to men. All these thwarted concepts and attitudes are the result of a fundamental misunderstanding and therefore misapplication of the law of attraction, not to mention mental fabrications of the patriarchal human ego.

Men are attracted to women and women to men by reason of their positive charge. A lower potential seeks a higher potential and a higher potential seeks out a lower. This is the law or attraction at work, whether between members of the opposite or the same sex.  Men are attracted to men in some cases, and women to women on the same basis. These raw energies are no respecter of persons, hormonal chemistry taken into consideration – and genitalia not withstanding. Genitals are male and female in their design and function.  Energy is masculine and feminine in its function and needs to flow between these two forces. As someone simply voiced it in a recent conversation around the subject of LGBT, the chemistry allows the energy to flow, and that’s what relationships are all about, isn’t it.

Masculine energy is the attractive force of this universe of integrating matter, which increases in density as pressure and positive charge increases. Feminine energy is magnetic and is the repellant, or separative, force of this universe of disintegrating matter.  Where they meet in what Russell calls the “inertial” plane, these forces come into a state of balance which he designates as a “bi-sexual” zone. (I do not yet see the implication nor the application here.)

AS ABOVE SO BELOW. AS BELOW SO ABOVE

How things work in the “physical” world of effects mirrors exactly how things work in the “spiritual” or vibrational realm of cause. In the world we have created, what happens on earth is an exact mirror of what is happening in the heaven of human consciousness. As above so below. Because of human interference and manipulation, the harmony and beauty in the Heaven of Divine Consciousness are not reflected in the world that man has created and maintains. Where man has not manipulated the design for the Natural World, such harmony, beauty and balance are evident. We might say that Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine forces work together in perfect balance and harmony. This is not accurately reflected in our world where historically males lord it over females – a dynamic that is rapidly changing these days with the “rise of the feminine” currently underway.

The Masculine gathers the energy of the expelled and exhaustive Feminine force unto itself to empower his creativity. He contracts light energy into integrating form. He is Brahma, the Creator, in Hindu religious tradition, which holds to the belief that the universe is cyclically created and destroyed.

The Feminine discharges the built-up potential of the Masculine in order to disintegrate structured form. She is Shiva, the destroyer, in Hindu religion. She destroys form in order to re-create new form. In this sense, she sees to it that the Creative Process continues to cycle.  She does not settle for what the Masculine has created as “permanent” reality, but rather clears the creative field in order for new creations to come into being – sometimes in a fitful outburst of wrathful anger. So, she gives her responsive energy to Brahma so as to foster the ongoing process of creation. Then there’s Vishnu whose role it is to maintain and preserve Brahma’s creations.  Vishnu is the second Hindu deity who is both male and female. Perhaps he/she is who Man is designed and intended to be as Steward of the Garden.

THE “BATTLE OF THE SEXES”

These two forces are integrated in the Natural World and are beginning to be allowed to integrate more and more in human beings. The so called “battle of the sexes” describes the creative dynamic at play between these two forces in the Creating Universe. As I said above, Masculine and Feminine forces are raw energies that are no respecter of persons or gender.

In the hands of the human ego, they are being used to enslave women and men and destroy life on Earth, all to enrich the few who maintain power and control over the masses. Not for much longer, however.

A third force is needed in order to bridle in these raw forces. Left to their own, they take on the false identities of human nature, dividing men and women in a competitive struggle for power and control over life and the illusory world they create, including their offspring, played out in the legal battle for custody in divorce courts. So long as one force dominates in the affairs of human beings, imbalance and imposition of one will over the other continue to sow the seeds of conflict  and war. So a third force is needed – and is rising today – to harness and balance these raw forces.

THE “LAW OF THREE”

Here is where Gurdjieff’s “Law of Three” comes into play, which states that when three forces come together, a fourth and totally different state is born of them.  That third force is Love. Spirit. A spiritual force that originates from a higher level than that at which men and women presently conduct their waring affairs on the horizontal two-dimensional plane. The vertical component of Love transforms and levels the playing field, so-to-speak — the field that the poet Rumi speaks of: “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.” When we meet in that field, a fourth and totally different state in possible: the New Earth.

This Spirit brings with it seven other spirits, or gifts, that are designed to help us meet the various needs and conditions that present themselves along life’s creating journey.  The late spiritual teacher Lloyd A. Meeker (Uranda) presented them as “Seven Steps to the Temple of Light.” There’s Patience, the first step toward enlightenment. Tranquility and single mindedness, the second step. The gift of Blessing is the third step. Can you imagine men and women being a blessing to one another instead of being competitors?  A fourth gift is Purification, the detoxification of our words and feelings toward one another; our selfish intentions and motivations, not to mention our lack of respect for one another. The expression and application of these four gifts of Spirit bring about the assurance and confidence of authenticity, along with the fifth step of Radiance, and with it the joy of success and victory. The sixth gift of Spirit is Wisdom, Sophia, whose gift is the sense of what is fitting in our speech and actions with one another and with our shared world. At this level of creativity, Masculine and Feminine forces are brought into balance. Peace is known at a deep heart level, bringing with it the experience of oneness with the All, Love, the seventh gift of Spirit. Enlightenment dawns. These are the qualities and gifts of our Being, our true and divine Self.

In conclusion, I will simply reiterate what I have written above. Our true identity is not as men and women. Our true identity is as Human Beings. I am not only a man. I am a human being in a male form with both masculine and feminine creative energies at my command for creative work on Earth.  My origin and Home is Heaven.  I have come here from Heaven, as we all have, to bring Love into the world and to allow Love to create the New Earth. Let us be about our divine mission and purpose together as Human Beings, God incarnate on Earth.

Thank you for sharing my thoughts and meditations. I welcome yours. Until my next post,

Be love. Be loved.

“Fifth Way” Love: A Romantic Path to Transformation

I will open this post with the excerpt from Cynthia Bourgeault’s signature work, The Meaning of MARY MAGDALENE – Discovering The Woman at the Heart of Christianity – with which I closed my previous post, and will continue quoting her commentary in its entirety. She quotes here a passage from the Gospel of Philip:

“The one who creates objects works outwardly in the external world. The one who labors in secret, however, works within the icon, hidden inwardly from others. The one who creates makes objects visible to the world. The one who conceives gives birth to children in the Realm of the Unseen.”

In this complex distinction . . . Philip insists that begetting must come “from above”. . . .  It requires a free and conscious regeneration in the Spirit. “Begotten” is an alchemy in which spirit actively participates, and its fruit is the anthropos, or completed human being.

THE SPIRITUAL KISS THAT BEGETS

From Philip’s point of view, then, lineal descendents of Jesus, even if they existed, would not be “anointed ones,” unless this claim were to be validated by their own spiritual transformation. The kingdom over which the Anointed One reigns is beyond the space/time continuum and cannot be inherited lineally (that technicality consistently overlooked in the literal-mindedness of The Da Vinci Code); it can be entered only by becoming a new kind of human being–what Philip actually describes as “a new race of human beings . . . . Only true sons and daughters can gain immortality,” he writes in analogue 56, “and no one can gain it without becoming a true son and daughter.” Progeny cannot be fashioned out of flesh and blood; they are the fruit of an alchemy of consciousness.

Philip makes it clear that this is the kind of spiritual procreation that Mary Magdalene and Jesus were chiefly about. As we discussed in chapter 10, his symbol for this type of richly engendering spiritual love is the kiss, which (as is universally the case throughout the Near Eastern culture) is seen as a sign not of sexual attraction but of spiritual begetting. When he indicates in analogue 37 that “the Master loved her more than the other students and many times would kiss her on the mouth,” he is not describing an illicit romance but rather a sacred exchange of their deeply commingled beings. The spiritual kiss is the symbol par excellence of Fifth Way love.

From a Fifth Way standpoint, this kind of intense and transforming love, “which is really the birth-pangs of union at a higher plane,” will indeed bear fruit. But the fruit may not be human children so much as an energetic sphere of pure creativity, in which reality is touched at the core and love itself is the progeny.

As analogue 66 points out, “The one who creates objects [i.e., literal offspring] works outwardly in the external world. The one who labors in secret, however, works within the icon, hidden inwardly from others.” In other words, the work goes on at the imaginal (or causal) level, and its potency is made manifest not by producing new people but by engendering transformed people giving birth to children “in the Realm of the Unseen,” in the words of the text. (Underscores mine)

“FIFTH WAY LOVE”:  AN EROTIC PATH TO TRANSFORMATION

The “Fifth Way” is a spiritual path based on relationship. Cynthia Bourgeault calls it “conscious love” rather than “tantric love” so as not to put a stumbling block before her parishioners. She is an Episcopal priest whose passion is to restore the romantic love affair between Jesus and Mary Magdalene as the center piece at the heart of Christianity. The term itself is a deliberate spin-off from George Gurdjieff’s “Fourth Way,” the “Way of the Conscious Man.” Boris Mouravieff (d.1966), a little known Russian esotericist who studied Gurdjieff’s system intimately, coined the phrase and used it in his three-volume Gnosis to represent “courtly love as a spiritual path and of the way of transformation through mystical union with one’s ‘polar being.'” Cynthia’s comment:

“While he [Mouravieff] stops short of saying that Jesus and Mary Magdalene practiced this path, he makes it clear that its headwaters lie deep within the marrow of Christianity itself, and he insists that it represents “The purest and most sublime realization of the Christian spiritual path.”

THE “SONG OF SONGS”

More commonly known in Protestant circles as “The Song of Solomon, Bourgeault associates this erotic book of the Old Testament Bible with Mary Magdalene, seeing it as an ancient testament to the practice of “Fifth Way Love.” I will share my favorite passage from the Biblical texts and then offer a commentary on it. The song opens with the kiss that begets love:

The song of songs, which is Solomon’s. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.

Because of the savor of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.

Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee….

The voice of my beloved! Behold he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.

My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice.

My beloved spake, and said unto me: “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;

The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell.  Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

Our winter is currently at the door in mid October, not a time to be leaping and skipping. Perhaps, then, we could see this passage metaphorically as describing the nature and character of Life itself and of the Beloved who abides within us each one, peaking out through the windows of our eyes and showing himself through the lattice of our veiled and guarded hearts. The Beloved is always there, “standing behind our wall,” when our world gets dark and seemingly impossible to navigate.  Always there to turn to for assurance that all is well and as it should be. Always there to love in passionate embrace and simply say: “I love you with all of my heart, with all of my mind, and with all of my body. With Solomon I sing . . .

Place me as a seal on your heart, as a seal on your arm. Strong as Death is love; intense as Sheol is its ardor. Its shafts are shafts of fire, flames of Yah (Yahweh). Deep waters cannot quench love, nor rivers sweep it away.”

AN UNLIKELY BIBLICAL TEXT

Like Mary Magdalene herself, the Song of Songs has had a long history of both admirers and detractors. It has been called, with some justification, “the most unbiblical book in the whole Bible,” and there are those who feel that its inclusion in among the wisdom writings of the Old Testament was a grand mistake. But others see it as nothing short of scripture’s mystical highpoint, an inexhaustible fountainhead of beauty and spiritual wisdom. Among this latter group was Rabbi Aqiba (d. 135), one of the most influential of the early rabbinic commentators, whose celebrated words eventually carried the day: “All the ages are not worth the day on which it was written for all the writings are holy, but the Song is the Holy of Holies.”

At the heart of all this consternation, as you might expect, is the fact that this text is a love song–and not just a mild-mannered, “spiritual” love song, but an unabashed celebration of erotic pleasure. From its opening salvo, “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth,” to its parting affirmation, “Love is as strong as death,” it never breaks stride, In eight canticles of stunningly evocative imagery, it sings the glories of carnal desire in exquisite and scintillating detail.

KENOTIC LOVE

Kenosis is the act of emptying oneself, a characteristic applied, by Paul specifically, to the path that Jesus took in his life of service. It was the path Mother Theresa took and other saintly souls.  Cynthia writes:

As Paul so profoundly realizes, self-emptying is the touchstone, the core reality underlying every moment of Jesus’s human journey. Self-emptying is what  brings him into human form, and self-emptying is what leads him out, returning him to the mode of glory. The full realization of Jesus’s divine selfhood [our divine Selfhood] comes not through concentration of being, but through voluntary divestment of it. . . . Stripping oneself and standing naked: this is the essence of the kenotic path.

KENOSIS IN THE FIFTH WAY

We have already seen that kenosis is the tie-rod of Jesus’s entire teaching, connecting the inner and outer realms of our human experience in a single, unified gesture. “Greater love has no man than to lay down his life for his friend” (John 15:13) is one of his most celebrated dictums. But when that “friend” happens also to be one’s uniquely beloved, one’s romantic partner or spouse, kenotic practice takes on a particularly intense and even a sacramental character. This is because the root energy it works with is the transformative fire of eros, the energy of desiring. That messy, covetous, passion-ridden quicksilver of all creation is tamed and transformed into a substance of an entirely different order, and the force of the alchemy accounts for both the efficiency of this path and its terrifying intensity.

Vladimir Solovyov, that great nineteenth-century philosopher of love, was among the first to grasp the enormous implication of this point, which defines both the modality of the Fifth Way and its ultimate destination:

The meaning and worth of love. .. is that it really forces us, with all our being, to acknowledge for another the same absolute central significance which, because of the power of our egoism, we are conscious of only in our own selves. Love is important not as one of our feelings, but … as the shifting of the very center of our personal lives. This is characteristic of every kind of love, but predominantly of sexual love [erotic love]; it is distinguished from other kinds of love by greater intensity, by a more engrossing character, and by the possibility of a more complete overall reciprocity. Only this love can lead to the real and indissoluble union of two lives into one; only of it do the words of Holy Writ say: “They shall be one flesh,” that is, shall become one real being.

In the path of “Fifth Way Love,” as Cynthia Bourgeault presents it in her book, and as she portrays the intimate companionship of Mary Magdalene and Jesus, the eros is transformed and transmuted to a higher level so as to become an erotically ecstatic bridge between the physical and the spiritual worlds, making the oneness of heaven and earth an actual and tangible experience.  The ultimate transformation takes place between “polar beings” who become one blended substance, so that one cannot tell where the boundaries of one’s own body stops and the other’s begins. For there is no “other” and no boundaries. There is only the One I Am.

We will shift gears in my next post, leaving the realm of the “Holy of Holies” to explore the mysteries of the Universe–as Walter Russell understands and explains them anyway. We are in for a profoundly intellectual roller coaster ride. So, sharpen your mental focus before you read my next post. The theme will remain in the domain of the masculine and feminine energies at work within us and throughout the illusory universe.  Until then,

Be love. Be loved.

Anthropos: Being Fully Human

This is huge. I will be challenged in these next two or three post to my utmost capacity to synthesize, as I have been studying various authors and each one of them sheds a different light on the subject — and I will lean heavily upon them all for excerpts. So, I’ll just dive right in and let Spirit guide me where it will.

I will launch this multi-post consideration with this passage from logion 114 of the Gospel of Thomas:

Simon Peter said to him: “Let Mary leave us, for women are not fit for the life.” Jesus answered: “See, I have been guiding her so as to make her into a human [Anthropos]. She, too, will become a living breath like you. For any woman who becomes a human will enter into the Kingdom of God.”

Another translation of the same passage says it differently and more to the point I’m aiming to make:

Simon Peter said to them: “Mary should leave us because women are not worthy of the life.” Jesus responded: “Look, I’ll lead her in order to make her male so that she can become a living spirit as you males are. For each woman who makes herself male wll enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.”

In the first translation, the word “human” is used. In the second, the word “male” is used. I will call upon Jean-Yves Leloup for an interpretation of this poignant passage in her book The Gospel of Mary Magdalene:

The error of many translators is to render this as having something to do with being male. It is clear from the original Greek that the meaning
is that of anthropos (human being in the general sense), and not of andros (man in the masculine sense). It is true that in order to become whole, a human being must integrate in herself or himself the complementary gender. And this work or realization of wholeness is certainly not something that only or especially women have to do–we each have our own work of becoming an Anthropos, a fully human being. . . .

The term anthropos is also richer than the term androgyne, which is sometimes used as the translation of the former, for sexual and psychic
polarities form only a part of what must be integrated in becoming fully human.

The other part is contained in the words “living breath” or “living spirit,” one’s true Self. And here I would introduce a consideration of the differences between male and masculine and between female and feminine. The first, male, relates to physical form, whereas masculine relates to spiritual or energetic essences. The same is applicable for female and feminine. I will address this difference after this clarifying explanation by the same author:

This recalls a passage from the Gospel of Matthew:

But he said to them, “Not all men can receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given. For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it.”

Some scholars have detected here the hand of an editor who was influenced by some sort of dualistic or ascetic teaching, one that was to
influence Christianity’s monastic departure from Old Testament teachings. Indeed, it does seem implausible that Yeshua would advocate
destroying the work of the Creator. How could he who claimed to be One with the Father advocate such mutilation of his creatures?

Others explain this by an improper translation or transmission of Yeshua’s words. The word eunuch should be replaced by the word androgyne. Unfortunately the latter word (like so many others) was and still is often misunderstood and reduced to a sexual meaning that evokes some
sort of freakish bisexual mixture that is neither male nor female–hardly an advantage for someone who is already having difficulties in finding his or her identity!

As in so many other domains, one can only transcend that which one has fully known and accepted. One must live one’s own sexuality in one’s
own body before speaking of a higher state of androgyny. As in psychotherapy, one must first have an ego that is as sane and stable as possible before pretending to have access to what is often (perhaps too often) called the Self.

This is why the authors of the Gospel of Mary considered it so important that Yeshua really lived his masculine sexuality, perhaps with Miriam, perhaps with another woman. This was necessary in order for him to become the archetype of synthesis, the Anthropos that he was. I prefer the term anthropos to androgyne because the former word still leads to confusion today, in spite of a widespread contemporary appreciation of
the value of spiritual integration and balance of male and female polarities in us. Rather than defending the literal translation of the original
word used in certain early Christian texts, it is preferable here to defend, through the word we choose as its translation, the truth and richness of meaning in what the original word communicates.

What is important is to become whole. This is what makes us able to truly love, not from our sense of lack, but from our plenitude, as Yeshua
himself loved us.

In the same way, we can say that it is because Miriam of Magdala fully lives her feminine sexuality, and because she fully accepts and integrates the masculine dimension of her being, that she is able to speak with authentic knowledge of the Word–though today, as during her time, there are still those who would deny her this. But it is only after the long and slow work of becoming fully human that she can legitimately speak, as an Anthropos, of the fullness of a humanity that, like Yeshua’s, is open to the Divine and transparent to its clear light–the most invisible and subtle of lights.

Of course one can take or leave Leloup’s interpretation of these passages. I personally resonate with his words of clarification.  For one thing, he has helped me come to terms with my own conflicted view of homosexuality, having been somewhat biased by my unsavory confrontation with pedofilia in my seminary years studying for the Roman Catholic priesthood, which left me with a deep aversion to anything the looked like men doing anything sexual to or with other men. But, that’s mine to work with and through.

MAKE THE TWO ONE

Masculine and feminine energies exist as two seemingly separate forces only in this “creating universe,” this illusory world of material forms, as Walter Russell expounds upon in his 1926 signature masterpiece THE UNIVERSAL ONE. The energy out of which these forces are born and in which they move and have their being in One, male and female bodies not withstanding. There is only One who occupies these capacities, and that One is what Jesus calls the “Living Spirit” and “Living Breath” in the Gospel of Mary Magdalene and the Gospel of Thomas. With this clarification–and with what I have written about in my previous post “The Imaginal Realm: As Above So Below”–see if you can “see” with the spiritual eyes of your heart what is being conveyed in the following passage from The Gospel of Thomas (22a & 22b):

Jesus saw infants being suckled. He said to his disciples: “These infants taking milk are like those who enter the Kingdom.”

His disciples asked him: “If we are infants will we enter the Kingdom?”

Jesus responded: ” When you make the two into one, and when you make the inside like the outside and the outside like the inside, and the upper like the lower and the lower like the upper, and thus make the male and the female the same, so that the male isn’t male and the female isn’t female. When you make an eye to replace an eye, and a hand to replace a hand, and a foot to replace a foot, and an image to replace an image, then you will enter the Kingdom.”

I could ponder this passage for days and still not comprehend with my intellect what the Teacher is saying. And what does it have to do with babies being suckled? He was obviously coming from a wisdom higher than that of the world. One can understand why he once told his disciples that he had much more to share with them, but they could not bear it. I wonder if we are able to bear it today with our highly educated intellects. It has been said that understanding if of the heart. This teaching has to be taken into the heart for understanding, something that the books I have been reading this past year have helped me to do.

The Teacher in speaking here from the standpoint of creating in and from the imaginal realm, where images are sown as seeds from above into the soil of human consciousness. He is speaking of the alchemy of begetting as compared to the chemistry of making. “Begotten not made” is a phrase found in the Nicene Creed referring to the “only begotten Son of the Father.” This is historically known as “Fifth Way Love,” which I will consider in my next post.

ATTUNEMENT WITH LOVE

From the standpoint of subtle energy healing through what has come to be called the “Attunement Process” in my field of service, the conscious focus of the practitioner is not on the analogue but on the image; not on the distorted physical form, perhaps fragmented and depleted, but on the perfection of the spiritual body which is whole and vital.  Our work is primarily done in the secret place of the Heaven, in Love’s domain, where we conceive images of wholeness and vitality. That wholeness and vitality is being transferred moment by moment to the physical body via this imaginal realm of spiritual substance — “pneumaplasm”– which bridges the two worlds that are one in reality.  Attunement is with the vibrational tone of Love.

This is what the Teacher called the “Kingdom.” When we as healers, or as complete human beings, anthropos, access and enter into the imaginal realm — which we can only do as Beings coming from above — where the images of healthy form and function are available for transference to the physical body, then we can make an eye to replace an eye, and a hand to replace a hand, and a foot to replace a foot, and an image to replace an image. From the view in the Heaven, the inside is like the outside and the outside like the inside; the upper is like the lower and the lower like the upper; then the male isn’t male and the female isn’t female but they are the same. We are not male and female. We are Anthropos, fully Human and living spirits, with masculine and feminine energies blended together in our incarnating capacities. We are sons and daughters of God. “Ye are gods.”

As a segue to my next post, I will close with an excerpt from Cynthia Bourgeault’s signature work, The Meaning of MARY MAGDALENE – Discovering The Woman at the Heart of Christianity. She quotes here a passage from the Gospel of Philip:

“The one who creates objects works outwardly in the external world. The one who labors in secret, however, works within the icon, hidden inwardly from others. The one who creates make objects visible to the world.

Until my next post,

Be love. Be loved.
