SACRED ANATOMY: The Pineal Gland–Cornerstone of the Temple

“The physical body is Real and beautiful beyond words to describe. It is wonderful beyond all the imaginings of mankind. In it are revealed the secret things of God.  Through it work the Cosmic Forces of the Universe.”—Uranda

THE PINEAL BODY

The Spirit of Love

Between the two hemispheres of the brain, below the posterior portion of the corpus callosum — the thick tissue connecting the two lobes of the cerebrum which hover over this inner sanctum like two arched wings — is a hallow space called the “Cave of Brama.”  In this cavity, enthroned atop the corpora quadrigemina — four small eminences on the back side of the brain stem serving as relay stations for auditory and visual impulses — is a small protuberance called the Pineal Body, or epiphysis cerebri.  Its pinecone shaped head, from which it derives its name, points back toward the “arbor vitae” (tree of life) of the cerebellum in the occipital cavity of the cranium.

Situated in the exact position of the Divine Proportion of the Golden Mean (.618 the distance on a line drawn from the front of the brain to the rear, and from the top of the skull to the bottom), behind and slightly above the level of the Pituitary Gland, the Pineal is about the size of the first digit of your little finger.  Its functions, however, are vast and relate primarily to the natural rhythms of the body.  It produces hormonal crystals, such as melatonin and serotonin, which synchronize the body’s circadian rhythms regulating some physiological activities, such as the sleep cycle, with the rotational cycles of the earth, as well as regulating blood flow to the brain, thereby influencing behavioral patterns and mental activity.  –The Pineal Gland located at the Golden Mean of the Divine Proportion of the Brain —

The color frequency of the Pineal is Violet correlating with the seventh wavelength of the light spectrum.  Violet is a passionate color and I wonder if perhaps, it isn’t here in the “seventh heaven” where our sense of deep passionate love for truth and for life itself is most deeply known.  This color also represents the purple garments of royalty befitting a king, and is not Love, rightly, the benevolent King and ruler of our hearts and of this whole holy world?  I perceive its musical pitch to correlate with F Natural. (This pitch shifted to a higher frequency of F# sometime during the dawning of the 21st century.)

As with all the endocrine glands, the Pineal is ductless and therefore secretes its hormones directly into the blood stream.  Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 are nutrients which support the health and function of the pineal gland.

The “Third Eye”

In former times the Pineal has been called by various names.  In the fourth century the Greek philosopher, Herophilus said it was the “sphincter of thought,” or the “origin of thought.”  Indian mystics said it was the “third eye,” the “eye within” and the “contemplative eye.”  Rene Descartes, the sixteenth century French philosopher, said the pineal was the “seat of the soul,” the seat of our consciousness.  Science, on the other hand, called it the pineal body, when no one understood what its functions were or if indeed there were any. For a while it was called the pineal gland and in the last decade it has been called the pineal organ because of its direct connection with the brain in producing its primary hormone, melatonin.

Lawrence Blair, in his book Rhythms of Vision in Chapter 6 entitled “The Subtle Anatomy of Man,” says there is a debate as to whether the “third eye” can be attributed to the Pineal or to the Pituitary, or as he states it:

…to the Brow or to the Crown Chakra; it is perhaps a somewhat academic point but I personally favor the Crown as being its most likely location. The corresponding physical organ, the pineal, is known to contain vestigial retinal tissue, and its structure is likened by modern physiology to a third, albeit atrophied, photo-receptor.

A further interesting physiological fact is that the pituitary gland (or the Brow Chakra) is connected to the left eye and governs the lower half of the brain, whereas the pineal expressing the Crown Chakra, is connected to the right eye and governs the upper half of the brain.

Perhaps no one has written with as much detail and insight about this little gland as has Dr. Jacob Liberman, optometrist and pioneer in the therapeutic use of light and color,  and the art of mind-body integration.   Dr. Liberman’s work has centered around developing a way for treating the cause of human ailments—physical, mental and spiritual— with light and color. In his brilliant book, Light: Medicine of the Future,  Dr. Liberman integrates the biochemical, psychological and spiritual properties of light.  He says the awareness of how light and color affect our lives was expounded upon as far back as 1840 by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, whose dying words suggested that  the “second shutter”  be opened in order to let “more light come in.”  He was not referring to the window blinds, but rather to the third eye” of the pineal gland.  Three different eyes were thought to exist: the flesh eyes for visual perception of light, the “eye of reason,” or “mental eye” and the “contemplative eye,” which Goethe says, “appreciates God.”  Dr. Liberman suggests that we must “integrate our vision to incorporate all the three eyes, as well as opening up the second shutter, but in doing so, we begin to open up our vision in a way that opens up our lives.”  Further, he cites Jonathan Swift’s insightful words, who wrote, “‘Real vision is the ability to see the invisible.’”   Liberman’s view is that by integrating these three eyes, we can experience what otherwise seems invisible.

Dr. Liberman explains how the average individual perceives only a small fraction of the stimuli coming at them from the environment.  “My personal experience is that as the inner eye opens, as we begin to see what at one time we felt was invisible, we tune into a broader spectrum, not only of the electromagnetic spectrum, but of the subtle energies that are not even within this electromagnetic spectrum.”   The word subtle relative to energies speaks to me of spiritual or ethereal light; that which is behind and before solar light and fills the spaces between the elements of the molecular world.   We are speaking here of the substance of love which creates a bond between us and with the natural world around us.

Speaking of the primary function of the Pineal Body, Liberman attributes the very primal instinct of bonding between individual life forms, such as between parent and child, to the all encompassing role of the Pineal.  “This bond,” he writes, “thought to develop out of the ‘heart-to-heart’ synchronization between mother and child, is a microcosm of humanity’s synchronized relationship with nature and the rest of the universe.”

Acting much as a light meter and physiological metronome attached to the physical eyes, the Pineal relays information received through the hypothalamus about the outside world of space and time, such as the length of the days and the seasons of the year,  to the body and the mind by way of hormonal messengers, alerting the body to the need to generate changes. These hormones alter moods, circadian (twenty-four-hour) rhythms and seasonal reproductive cycles so as to synchronize with changes in the natural world with which we are connected.

Dr. Liberman continues:

The timing of physiological events is very critical to the health and propagation of a species.  Since the pineal gland seems to adjust the entire physiology of organisms to their environment, the physical size of this gland seems to vary according to where animals live.  Thus, the pineal is relatively small in animals living at or near the equator, whereas its size increases proportionately the further north or south of the equator animals live.

In certain species, such as the elephant seal, the pineal gland at birth occupies 50% of the brain.  If the size of the human pineal gland is directly related to the degree to which living creatures are in touch with their environment, does the size of the human pineal (pea size) indicate something about the state of our consciousness?  Would a change in our consciousness, and a closer connection between us and nature, increase the size of our pineals?  Whatever the answer to these questions, respect for nature by all living creatures is not only a moral necessity but is definitely crucial to the longevity and quality of life. . . .  In creatures such as birds, lizards, and fish, light stimulates the pineal by penetrating directly through the skull.  In many reptiles, the pineal has all the photo-receptive elements characteristic of an eye. It is therefore referred to as a “third eye” because, in many creatures, it resembles an eye in both structure and activity.  However, in humans, as well as in all hairy creatures, light stimulates the pineal exclusively by way of our eyes, therefore making it an integral part of the visual system.  The technical name of the pineal is epiphysis cerebri, which literally means “top of the brain.” It is my belief that humans originally also received light stimulation through the top of the head, as is vividly described in many metaphysical and ancient spiritual writings. This indicates that at one point in human evolution, perhaps prior to the development of the brain hemispheres, the pineal may have actually been positioned at the top of the human brain. . . .  Today, the pineal is recognized as playing a major role in every aspect of human function.  It acts as the “regulator of regulators.”  Aside from its documented effects on reproductive function, growth, body temperature, blood pressure, motor activity, sleep, tumor growth, mood, and the immune system, it also seems to be a factor in longevity. (pp. 31-33)

Whatever the evolutionary history of this tiny gland, its very existence appears to haunt us, as little was known of its purpose and function until recently.  Although it has tended to be rejected as having any significant role to play in the body,  it has been discovered that it plays an intimate and vital role with the eyes.  I suspect at one time—perhaps before “the Fall” when Man lived in the Garden of Eden—it served as an internal eye, a vibrational “window of heaven,” through which we were able to “see” into the realms of light, into heaven, and communicate daily with the LORD God.

–The Pineal enthroned atop the Corpora Quadrigemina–

Considering its makeup of retinal tissue and its close association with the corpora quadrigemina with its relay stations for auditory and visual impulses, one can even imagine how the Pineal may have served as a transmitter of sorts by which we heard the heavenly sounds of angelic voices singing in the realms of light.

I like to think of the Pineal Body as the throne of deity on earth, the deity of divine being,  a remarkably exact reflection of the “throne set in heaven” John describes in the Book of Revelation in the Bible, even  down to the fine details of  the “four beasts full of eyes before and behind,” the significance of which we shall explore shortly.

Of the seat of the soul Uranda says this:

Meditation upon the Cosmic Principles of Light, Love and Life, keeping the attention centered in the Seat of the Soul—that is, IN the Throne of thy Father within thee, in the center of thy head— seeking the while to detect the INFLOW of Cosmic Vibrations through thy hair, followed by the OUTFLOW through thy WHOLE body in a glorious  Radiance of the Christ in which thy WHOLE, HOLY BEING is enfolded, will speed thy conscious comprehension of the ONE TRUTH that thou art ONE with the ALL that is ONE.   (Steps To Mastership, Lesson 43)

An excellent pineal attunement technique is toning with one’s focus in the forehead where the “third eye” is sending out radiant beams of light. Toning a high pitch will resonate with the high frequency of this sacred energy center.

I welcome your thoughts and inspirations. I will continue in my next post with a consideration of the spiritual significance of the Pineal gland as the focus for the Spirit of Love. Until then,

Be love. Be loved.

Significance of the Pineal Gland

THE PINEAL GLAND A WHITE STONE

INSIDE THE CRANIUM there is much activity relating to light and sound.  It has been discovered, for example, that within the Pineal is a tiny crystal “. . . of sabulous (gritty) matter composed of phosphate and carbonate of lime, phosphate of magnesium and ammonia [afloat in] a transparent viscid fluid.”  This tiny white crystal is reportedly radiant with light energy for several minutes after death.  This discovery carries considerable spiritual significance seeing as how it has also been discovered that cells give off a flash of light as a means of communicating as well as when they die.

In his monumental work, Vibrational Medicine For The 21st Century, renown definitive authority on energetic medicine and medical physician Dr. Richard Gerber describes what is being called today the “vibrational-medicine model” of the human body as possessing a more subtle communication system than that of the brain and nervous system wherein light is the medium for messages between the cells of the body:

Most information that the organs receive is in the form of chemical messages that help to regulate the function of each organ within the context of the body’s daily needs. But the organs and the cells making up each organ also communicate with each other using nonchemical forms of information-carrying messengers.

For instance, we now know that the cells of the body actually emit weak pulses of light. Those weak cellular light pulses seem to be part of a light-based communication system that helps to coordinate the actions of the cells within each organ. The pulses of light emitted by cells are just one of the many different informational codes the human body and its individual cells use to regulate the function of organs on a day-to-day and moment-to-moment basis.  Our cells communicate through the coded messages carried by hormones and biochemicals, as well as through electrical signals (such as those carried by the nerves of the body), and also through weak light signals. The cells of the body appear to have their own inherent intelligence that allows them to understand and use this coded information in its many forms in order to maintain the body in a state of health.

It is clearly  evident  that  light  plays a central role in the generation of life and in the maintenance of function and coordination within the body, and that the Pineal, nestled in the center of the brain and connected to the corpus quadrigemina—a part of the brain which relays light and sound frequencies and vibrations from the outside world to this inner most sanctum—is the appointed place of rendezvous between the light of the sun coming into the body through the eyes and the light of love emanating from the angel incarnate.  For here in this inner  sound  and  light  chamber are blended the seven-dimensional vibration of light, sent to the pineal by the hypothalamus—as we shall see shortly—with the seven-dimensional vibration of love.  The outer and the inner, earth and heaven, are unified as one.

The fact of the presence of retinal tissue in the body of the Pineal may well account for the pulsating colors some frequently see while the eyes are closed during meditation, even when they are open at times.   The light of love enters the temple through the violet colored window of the Pineal Body.   This photo-receptor is sensitive to the radiation of the light of love entering it from above and pouring through it into the body temple.  As this same light of love radiates outward through the eyes, it stimulates the cones and rods which then translate it into respective colors in the brain.  One may see colors of red, brown, yellow, green, blue and deep purple contracting and expanding around a sharp focus of violet light.    At times one may sense that heaven’s portal will open up and allow one to peer right into heaven.  As the pulsations stimulate the olfactory bulb, the taste as of sweet nectar fills the mouth raining down like pulsing showers of honey dew.  Is this the sweet nectar of the gods that nourishes the cells of the inner sanctum and takes away all hunger and thirst?   From my own experience, I believe it is.

Is this tiny gland perhaps the vibrational receiver and transmitter the LORD God and Man use to communicate, the origin of the “inner voice” of intuition and the means by which God hears our prayers and songs of praise and thanksgiving?   Here surely is where the Creative Word is spoken by the angel incarnate, in concert with the LORD God: “Let there be Light!”   And there is light, the light that is the life of Man sent forth into the body temple by way of crystal emissaries of hormones to bring the perfect patterns of design and firm control of life to each and every tissue cell, organ, gland and system.  In form and in function here is the very real and practical way by which the Word of Creation is spoken by the angel incarnate in his or her temple, not only to maintain and re-create the body temple, but to re-create the world.

The Pineal, then, may be said to provide a physical point for the radiant focus of the Spirit of Love, not only in these temples but in this world.  As a sacred gateway, it gives entrance to highly refined spiritual essences that purify and refine the courser substances that sometimes enter the heart—our sacred heart because our heart is truly sacred to us as angelic beings.  It is a crucible for intensifying love’s regenerating power that makes all things new.  It is here in our hearts that we know love and in that knowing experience a sense of oneness with all things.

As we learn how to keep our hearts open, yet contained and governed by love so as to conserve and preserve its contents of golden substance, the transforming power of love brings about transmutation, thereby fulfilling its purposes and perfect plan for salvation in our body temples and in the world.  For clearly the purpose of the body temple is the incarnation of angels on Earth.   The Pineal Body plays a key role in transmuting the physical substance of human flesh into pneumaplasmic flesh (spirit substance) for the angel’s spiritual body in this world.

For that transmutation to occur an arc of fire is needed.    That arc is present between the positive centers provided by the endocrine glands and their negative centers in the Brain and Spinal Chord, though obviously not hot enough to transmute the substance of the physical body.  It is hot enough, however, at the higher levels of being where the Pineal and Pituitary glands interact in highly-charged currents of spiritual energy.

Uranda speaks of this so very beautifully in his Steps To Mastership, as well as in his book The Triune Ray.   The transforming spirit of love creates the currents of life that move through our body temples by way of the working of the One Law of positive radiation and negative response, which attracts atoms into the transforming fire and brings them into a state of union with the angel incarnate. This positive radiation emanates from the seventh level embodied by the Pineal Body at the apex point in the physical body where the Arc of Life is created that runs the affairs of the Body Temple.  That arc is initially established between these first two seals at the seventh and sixth levels.  The Pituitary provides the initial pattern of response and yielded openness to the radiant ray of light emanating from the Pineal.  All the rest that hereafter emerges in the physical body relates to the administration and governance of this primary current of life created and sent forth as a River of Life into the garden of the Temple of the Living God, and the returning ascending cycle that lifts atomic substance up into the body temple.    (To be continued in my next post)

The Power of your Sacred Heart

The heart is the soul’s gateway, both into life and beyond into eternity.  The heart is the timeless and indestructible source of all higher knowledge. It is the one point within each person where the inner and outer forces are the same.  Within the heart, the will of God and your own may be brought into harmony”   — Jesus

Continuing my book review and sharing of Glenda Green’s inspiring book, Love Without End —  Jesus Speaks, the author contemplates in her chapter “The Heart is Your Higher Intelligence” the historical celebrations of the heart, such as on Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and other holidays on which we celebrate some aspect of our heart’s devotion.  Then there’s country music which raises verse and song to the broken hearts . . . and the subsequent need for counselors to fix them.  “How little,” she writes, “we know about its fullest and truest meaning.”

She then cites medical evidence and scientific data concerning our physical heart: “…physicians report that the physical organ has never been stronger, which accounts for our larger bodies and greater longevity. Yet, at the same time, heart disease is still on the best seller list of tickets to Heaven!  The physical heart is a life-giving organ, with deep and wonderful resources, most of which have yet to be discovered.”

Our physical hearts exemplify innocent perception and awareness.  Just consider how, for instance, without judgment, complaint, or condemnation it pumps clean and dirty blood through its chambers with equal vigor and blessing. Sort of inspires me to have a more non-judgmental attitude toward what the River of Life brings through me and my world for blessing and passing on to other members in the larger body of Man, the Body of our Creator.

Speaking of the physical heart, Glenda also cites Oriental medicine and philosophy for bringing to our awareness “an important and wonderful energy field which surrounds both our bodies and our physical hearts, and every day more evidence is surfacing that this complex and intricate field of electrical energy is a life enhancing source to the physical heart.”  She cites acupuncture for revealing deeper and more pragmatic evidence of this energetic field in its exploration and therapeutic use of the meridians in and around the body, opening a door to “alternative” or “complementary” medicine’s debut into western science and healthcare.

Moving from the physical heart to the psychological perspective of the heart,  modern psychology has introduced the now popular view that there are “right-brained” and “left-brained” approaches to life, the right-brained people considered “heart people,” who are “more intuitive, emotional, empathic and responsive, while, in contrast, left-brained people are more logical, analytical, competitive and initiatory. This dichotomy,” she suggests, “is often carried to the extreme of referring to ‘heart people’ as feminine and ‘logical people’ as masculine.”  She lends a certain amount of credibility and truth to these observations based solely on the “bicameral nature of the brain.” The real truth, she offers, lies in the “reflection such limited assumptions cast upon  the culture in which we live….  In our culture, the heart has generally been considered  the emotional, empathic, intuitive, and feminine side of our being.  The complete spectrum of the heart’s power has been missed by most people. All of the above considerations about the heart are important and valid, yet each alone is incomplete.  Even taken collectively, they do not equal the Sacred Heart of which Jesus spoke.”

Here is what Glenda recorded Jesus — whom she knows more historically as “Jeshua” and more intimately as “The Beloved” — as saying about the significance and power of the heart:

There is a point within each person where the physical, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual components of one’s existence are in perfect synchronicity.  At that point, there is no difference in  elements, time, space, or condition.  This is the personal ‘zero point’ which is known prior to birth, immediately after death, and anytime in between when a person’s will has been perfectly reconciled with the will of God.  A person is forever able to connect with his Creator in that sacred place, regardless of how far he has strayed through the process of living.  At the point of true simplicity, you may enter into perfect communion with the Father.  Whenever you do, your life will be renewed or even transformed.

The heart is a magnetic vortex through which the blessings of all essences and potentialities are received, integrated, and focused into living.  Through the laws of electromagnetism, that power is converted into life energy.  The heart, being essentially magnetic, functions best through innocent awareness which attracts and receives.  Acts of judgment, which divide and repel, will shut the door of the heart behind you.  If you would make the heart strong, you must first learn to perceive with innocence, accept, and forgive.  As you empower your heart it will open to you.  At first you may simply notice this change as more passion for living, more peaceful sleep, or better digestion of food.  The heart is the center of your health and quality of living, therefore those things will be addressed first.  As you progress in your affirmations of the heart, however, your life will begin to have more abundant fruits, and you will have the energy needed to make more dramatic changes.  Eventually, what you gain from your heart visitations will surpass your wildest dreams.  There will be levels of energy which are transformational and transmutational.”

“In a world so preoccupied with power,” Glenda writes, “is it not ironic that the heart is so little understood.  For Jesus said, ‘The heart center is the true source of human power.'”

Food for much thought and meditation.  Certainly enough for today. See you in my next post. Until we meet again. . .

be love and be loved.

Attunement with Sacred Sound

We will pause in our review of Glenda Green’s book, Love Without End, to share something about Attunement from a brochure I just finished writing as it flows naturally from the current of our meditation on the Sacred Heart.

What is Attunement?

Attunement is a sacred healing art and a spiritual practice.  It is sacred in that it serves life, and life is sacred. As a sacred healing art, attunement is a technology of Love. It serves to increase the flow and radiance of life in the body by healing, clarifying and strengthening its connection with spirit in the heart — the Sacred Heart —  where oneness with Love is known.

As a spiritual practice, one can use attunement to focus a current of Love in one’s Sacred Heart and allow love to radiate outward without concern for any particular desired results. The radiance of love alone brings peace to the heart, clarity to the mind and healing to the body. The Father, who is Love, knows what our real needs are even before we ask.  Entering Sacred Heart space is the only requirement for experiencing attunement with the healing power of Love.

As a sacred healing art, attunement is administered by focusing a current of love and then extending the hands to share that current with another. The endocrine system of hormonal glands inside and the Chakra centers of energy outside and enveloping the body can be used as key gateways in the energy body to access organs and systems in the physical body. The practitioner may work with these two systems to bring about a state of balance and harmony in the body’s energy fields.

What is Sacred Sound?

Sacred Sound is sound used specifically to convey life’s healing currents. The sound can be produced using Tibetan and quartz crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, recordings (such as CD’s), as well as the human voice to create an atmosphere for healing . . . and so much more.  Offering a musical carrier wave for spirit, Sacred Sound produces a heavenly harmony of tones that lift the heart and mind to peaceful heights of serenity and utter stillness. Sacred Sound actually transforms and realigns the molecules of the body bringing them into beautiful patterns of harmony that manifest the health and radiance of life in body-mind and heart.

Toning Aum

Simply toning Aum with the release of a moderately deep breath, starting with the “ah” sound and open mouth for 5 seconds, then slowing closing the mouth around the ah sound to form the Aum sound, then breathing out the “m” sound through the nose for 10 seconds, will stimulate the pineal gland in the center of the brain and release beneficial hormonal chemistry for the ascension of consciousness to a higher frequency.  Caution: Do this just a few time so as not to over stimulate the pineal gland to the point of becoming ungrounded.

What does attunement feel like?

Depending on one’s openness to receive, one may experience a feeling of peace and inner stillness. A definite and magical healing can occur and is often keenly felt as a penetrating current moving at a core level within. Some have compared it to touching heaven and being “surrounded by a cloud of angels.” Others have likened their experience to being “kissed by an angel.”  One may come away feeling as though one has left this world and entered a realm of light and peace, which I like to think of as the “kingdom of heaven within,” the inner “closet” the Master Jesus spoke of where one may enter and pray “in secret” to one’s “heavenly Father.”  By whatever name called, it is a place of communion with the Beloved and therefore sacred.  The “Sacred Heart” describes it best for me.

What is the purpose of attunement?

Attunement is not so much “given” as it is “shared” by two or more who come together in a spirit of thankfulness. The whole and holy intention of attunement is to clarify and lift one’s own frequency of life energy to a higher level of vibration, above the level where problems, distress and dis-ease are experienced and where oneness with Love is known and keenly felt. Attunement brings a natural sense of wholeness to one’s experience of oneself.

Besides being used for personal healing, attunement can also be used to send healing currents to loved ones, or to enfold a life situation in love for peaceful resolution. Anyone can do this, as attunement with love is our natural state.

Harmony and balance are keys to health, happiness and longevity. Attunement — with or without sacred sound — offers all this and more as one makes attunement with love a way of life and part of one’s daily health and wellness care.

Thankfulness in all things keeps one attuned with Life’s creative flow. Self-attunement is taught and recommended as a way of re-visiting the sacred space created during an attunement session in one’s quiet moments of morning and evening prayer and sanctification.

Fees and Appointments

Attunements are offered freely. Love offerings are welcomed and deeply appreciated. I invite you to call today to schedule an attunement session. Call anytime, day or night, for long-distance attunement and for special enfoldment.

Love’s blessings,
