Oneness With The Ocean of Motion

ONENESS WITH THE OCEAN OF MOTION — (From the Foreword of my book ATTUNEMENT WITH SACRED SOUND)

“We live in an ocean of motion.” This famous little phrase describes the quiet, yet all-encompassing platform of our lives. The rhythm of our breathing, the hum of our nervous system, the wide range of verbal utterances that we voice or hear are but a few reminders, close at hand, of the infinite spectrum of vibration within us and surrounding us.

Vibration with a purpose is “energy”, and specific ranges of energy are identified by us human beings, based on our own sensing of them. Our eyes see the energy range of “visible light”, our ears hear “audible sound”, our skin senses heat and impacts of motion on our physical bodies. Tastes and smells are also particularized ranges of energy. Scientific instruments and other devices engage energy ranges beyond the discernment of our five senses – radio and TV frequencies, microwaves, infrared and ultraviolet light, x-rays, gamma rays, cosmic rays, etc.

Further, the thoughts we think, the emotions we feel, and the whole of “consciousness”, human and otherwise, are waves of energy. The world of so-called “form” around us is but another spectrum of energy, one that moves slowly enough to appear to us to be “solid” and inanimate. Social systems, economies, governments, and countless other forms of human interaction represent the movement of energy among people. Beyond earth, the moon, the planets, the sun, its sun, whole galaxies appear to follow ancient rhythms and resonances. 

The book you now hold in your hands, Attunement with Sacred Sound, by fellow musician and Attunement practitioner, Dr. Anthony Palombo, provides a pivotal revelation about the phenomenal connection you and I have to the powerfully grand energies of all creation. The seeming platitude that states, “We are all one,” or “We are one with everything,” is quite true, in fact! Keep reading and you will discover more about just how profoundly this is the case.

Dr. Anthony Palombo – “Tony” – and I have known each other for almost 40 years. Never has there been a time, in my observation, when Tony has not exhibited a conscious attitude that consistently recognizes the connection between “heaven and earth” (the intangible and the tangible, if you will), a core kinship between all people, and the resonance that entrains throughout all of “creation”, with its infinite components. Tony’s is a noble stance and vision, to be sure, but why is it relevant to us now? Because, if we are to receive the full spectrum of learning, guidance, and inspiration from studying this book – a work that, I believe, largely distills (without coming close to fully biographing) Tony’s life’s work – we will find ourselves adopting that same outlook as Tony has – one filled with awe, wonder, discovery, and a sense of privilege to know and work in this precious, delicate, and, dare I say, sacred field.

What allows the “magic pill” of Attunement with Sacred Sound to uniquely provide healing, relief and upliftment (for many millennia now), where other remedies may not? (And it has been proven to do just that.) For that matter, why exactly does music have “charms to sooth a savage breast”? In answer, we can observe one profound insight (of many) about one of the immutable, universal laws, with just a little “plinking” on a basic piano keyboard. 

Please observe the diagram above, that of a piano keyboard, with its black and white notes. We will focus on the white keys only, for now. Note that there is a repetitive pattern of “letter names” given to those white keys, each of which, when played, sounds a unique musical pitch, or frequency. The keys are named “A” through “G”, and then that pattern of names repeats “an octave higher” (or lower). Without us getting too technical (or bored, I hope), please briefly observe with me the “speed of vibration”, the “frequency”, of two of the piano’s notes — the two “A”’s, shown above:

“The Lower A” (the “A” key to the left) sounds at a frequency of 440 Hertz (Hz), a measurement for “cycles (or complete vibrations) per second”. (Incidentally and interestingly, this 440-Hz, modern-day “concert A” runs four cycles per second faster than the mystical 436-Hz “A” that served as a cornerstone of the work of Pythagoras over 2,500 years ago.)  The “A” that is an octave higher than “A-440” (i.e. the “A” key shown to the right, on the keyboard diagram above) vibrates at a frequency that is exactly twice the speed of the lower “A”, or 880 Hz. Why is this important – to people in general, and to Attunement practitioners and enthusiasts, in specific? It is because the undeviating octave demonstrates a crucial element that binds together the entire Universe, us and all of “creation”.

The Law of the Octave — named for the eight primary, “white” keys that sit between and include, for example, an “A” and the next higher “A”. This universal law recognizes that musical notes sounding an octave apart – with frequencies that are multiples of two (2), relative to each other — have a closely kindred harmonic nature, a unique tonal relatedness that epitomizes unification. This can be heard distinctly when notes in octave are sounded.

Please note that the octave is not, by any means, the only relationship between pitches. Wait until you read Tony’s expositions on the “Perfect Fifth”, harmonics, overtones, and the other sonic wonders of the sound world that come into robust play in health, healing, and Attunement. However, the uniquely “divine” design of the octave illustrates the cohesive nature of the entire, endless frequency spectrum.

Now, here’s where things get pretty cosmic! An “A” vibrates at 440 Hz; and the “A” an octave higher, vibrates at twice the speed (880Hz); the next, higher “A”, an octave above, vibrates at twice that speed (880 x 2, or 1,760 Hz); the next higher “A” at 3,520 Hz, then 7,040 Hz; and so on — continuing to infinity. Along the way, these associated frequencies surpass the audible range and move into the ranges of radio; TV; microwaves; infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light; x-rays, etc. Yet, at any octave, a multiple of (in this example) “A-440” remains in harmonic concord with every other octave of “A” that resonates throughout the heights of the infinite frequency spectrum.

This energy spectrum vibrates, not just throughout the aforementioned range of higher frequencies, but at an equally infinite range of lower frequencies, as well. Infinite literally means infinite, after all.  As we observe frequencies below “A-440”, we find kindred octaves resonating at exactly one-half 440 Hz (440 divided by 2, or 220 Hz); then the next lower “A” at 110 Hz, then at 55Hz; and so on — continuing to infinity. At 27.5 Hz, we near the lowest frequencies audible to humans and approach the range of Schumann Resonances, electromagnetic waves that exist between the earth’s surface and the earth’s ionosphere. When tonal frequencies (like a musical sound) “slow down” sufficiently, they become “rhythms”.

A rhythm that is near and dear to each of us is our own heartbeat – something we just can’t live without – beating at a “frequency” around 1Hz, or one beat per second. Our bodily processes (and that of many organisms on earth) adhere to daily circadian oscillations, coordinating our capacities to the earth’s day-night rhythms. The earth rotates around its axis at a frequency of once per day, revolves around the sun at a frequency of once per year, and responds to the monthly frequencies of the moon’s cycles. Our sun revolves around its sun, as far as we can tell, and the Milky Way itself marches majestically — and for us, QUITE slowly –through the heavens, true to its own frequency that encompasses millions of years. So, to the best of our present understanding, there are infinitely fast vibrations and infinitely slow ones.    

Putting aside, for a moment, the Grand Scale of It All, WHY is all this directly significant to us, and how does it affect our everyday lives? We have a glimpse into the why and how, brought to us once more by that Law of the Octave.

The Law of the Octave reveals a constant, orderly, powerfully resonant framework that governs and integrates the entirety of this infinite, cosmic frequency spectrum – the entire Ocean of Motion that is our Universe. The immutable design governed by the Law of the Octave connects all energy. And our own connectedness with all energy – through the thousands of resonating processes in motion at any given moment, in our own physical, mental, emotional and spiritual-expression capacities, and in our world – is living evidence of the actual, tangible attunement that, in truth, we share with the Creator and with all of Creation.

Oneness.

The practice of Attunement, as so ably and comprehensively introduced by Tony in this book, helps enrich the sacred resonance of our capacities with the Creator, while helping remove dissonance from the creative fields that penetrate and surround us. Whereas “sound therapy” alone uses the relatively slow-moving (though miraculous) realm of sound itself as the source of upliftment, the overall Attunement process engages a much wider (potentially infinite), higher-frequency spectrum of harmonics, one that encompasses the range of audible sound, plus so much more, while differentiating itself through countless, simultaneous Life processes. Sound healing, and any other process that is in resonance with Spirit, is a harmonious aspect of that Spirit substance, and therefore provides, at least to some extent, a resonant field for the energy and blessings of that Spirit.

Sound acts as a carrier wave of sorts for the Attunement current — toning and amplifying the emanations of the endocrine glands, relaxing and entraining the nervous systems, clearing the mind, soothing emotions, and helping one to release various resonances with external stresses. The playing of sustained sound also can be used by an experienced practitioner as an instrument to amplify his or her perceptions. As the sonic and “Spirit” ranges of energy entrain together during an Attunement session, their synergy — true to the Law of the Octave — also activates harmonics in all frequency ranges, from the infinitely high to the infinitely deep.

We are literally moving in harmonic resonance, in attunement, with all of Creation. We not only live in the “universal ocean of motion”, but we play radiantly conscious roles in the flow of its Currents, as we allow our every action to entrain with the infinitely high and deep Tones of the Creator. We are an integral part of the Cosmic Symphony, for sure. Let’s join Tony now, for an in-depth expose of just how integral we really are!

Spirit of the New Earth Vibration, page 3: Reshaping Hallowed Space

“Sacred tones our voices sound, reshaping hallowed space.  Let Love command.  Let wonders form.  Let heaven’s beauty shine.  Let every living breath sing praise for light divine.” ¹

In this series I have been sharing excerpts from the section of my book SACRED ANATOMY focusing on the endocrine Gonad glands and the vibrational essence of the Spirit of the New Earth.  The larger context for this post is available in a previous post, which I recommend reading first, if you haven’t already done so.  In this post I share my meditation on the musical aspect of this sacred seal . . . along with some thoughts on current issues. 

This is an area in which, as a musician, I have a passionate interest; one that led me to explore in depth the spiritual or vibrational essences that create the body temple.  My exploration led me to write and publish my research and experimentation in a second book, ATTUNEMENT WITH SACRED SOUND, wherein I offer energy healers a methodology for the use of sacred sound as a carrier wave for Spirit and intention.

THE CREATING POWER OF WORDS

Before I proceed, I will say a few words about the hymn I excerpted a few lines from above.  It was written by a friend and colleague as a worshipful tribute to the Word that articulates the “Whole Holy World,” as Uranda described Creation.  The term word signifies sound, a vocal utterance, as it has done from the Beginning:  “And darkness was upon the face of the deep . . . and God said: Let there be light.”
St. John resounds these words from Genesis in his Gospel:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. (John: 1-3)

I would like to give some thought to the creating power of words. The Word, spelled with a capital W, signifies the Divine utterance of the Tone that creates and shapes the visible world.  The “Word made flesh” refers to the incarnation of the Lord of Love in the man Jesus. By the same principle, our words, imbued with spirit and emotion, are also made flesh in that they manifest form and shape our worlds. 

Words are born of intention.  It is the intention encoded in the words we speak that shapes our experiences in life and our worlds.  In the larger context of the collective body of humanity, our shared world is shaped and conditioned by what’s issuing forth from out of our collective heart, mind and consciousness—our music, for instance. 

Concerts put forth an abundance of emotion-driven words and thoughts that speak for the masses of young people who field and applaud them.  What issues forth from the mouths of bands and rock and rap artists, conveyed on the carrier waves of sound, has its influence on the consciousness of those attending and participating, who then return to their worlds and lives and shape both out of their consciousness.   

In this day, that issuance via various media is largely one of fear, anger, futility, longing, hoping and praying, leading to deep depression and desperation in many to the point of suicide . . . notably among an increasing number of youths and even children, where “virtual reality” and “social media” simply do not substitute for actual reality and social activities with friends and piers at school.  

Through the eyes of such conditioning, we view a world falling apart when in reality it is our species that is threatened by extinction in a collapsing ecology and economy, under siege by a virus from out of the natural world.  Chaos is global, erupting this week in Myanmar.   It is we who are coming apart as a gregarious species sentenced to isolation from one another for too long. 

Profiteering in high places is rampant in this pandemic. No one needs to be profiting from this catastrophe that has produced so much irreparable damage and brought so much pressure on everyone, especially on our youth.  The pressure will only increase as we move toward the end of this pandemic and into the next phase of our collective transformation.  There is light at the end of the tunnel. 

UNDER PRESSURE

My son John in Ashland, Oregon posted this on Facebook a few days ago that depicts the climate in the world presently, as well as his beautiful attitude of compassion:

Feeling this song pretty hard tonight. The pressure just keeps increasing and increasing, and I see it affecting everyone around me. Some take it better than others. I mean, are we diamonds yet? We’re just… Trying to be good people. Trying to save the planet. Trying to love each other. Trying to keep a house. Trying to make enough money. Trying to feed the poor. Trying to be good parents. Trying to be good partners. Trying to be good friends. Trying harder and harder and harder. And it’s never “enough.” There’s a reason for that.  Having A LOT of compassion for all those getting squeezed by life right now. You’re not alone. Together we walk. It is We, not just you and I.

It’s the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming let me out

Pressure on people, people on streets

[The phenomenal crowds that flocked to Queen concerts back in the 1980’s speaks to the revolutionary awakening of that era sparked and shaped by the words and sounds of Queen and similar concerts . . . and still doing so.  Just this one particular video was viewed by 272,254,215 people in March of 2013, a quarter of a century after the song had been performed at every Queen concert between 1981 and ’86.] 

PRESSURE ESSENTIAL TO CHANGE

Without pressure, change cannot occur. There is no greater potential for shaping the hallowed space of darkness upon the deep of our yet uncreated worlds than from the sacred ground of our sexuality.  Here at the first level in the planes of being are all the essences from the levels above that go to create and empower the world in which we live and have our being.  So there’s much pressure coming to bear at this lower level with at least six levels stacked up on top of it. What we do here in this place of holy communion, and why we do it, sets into motion the energetic and vibrational factors that will most assuredly shape our world and our experience of life. 

If we approach this potent area of sexual intimacy for the purpose of relieving the pressures of life, or simply pleasuring ourselves — or, worse yet, profiting financially from human and sex trafficking —  then we compromise whatever creative processes are unfolding.  We also enforce our intention to seek pleasure and profits from the world that we create, and the world given to us by our Creator.  

This is not in keeping with the intention of our divine Self, the angels we are, who have incarnated to co-create a heaven on earth with other angels who have incarnated with the same intention.  We are wise, then, to be fully conscious as we approach this potent creative activity.  And I know I’m preaching to the choir here as those in “gross darkness” cannot begin to comprehend the light.  Nevertheless, I send my words into the mass consciousness through you, my precious and cherished reader, along with deep appreciation.  

That said, I will now proceed to share this excerpt from my book. 

Musical Shaping of Sacred Space 

   THIS FIRST-LEVEL CENTER for the differentiation of the awesome power of Love emits a vibration that corresponds with the longest of the seven dominant wavelengths in the light spectrum, Red, correlating with the musical pitch of A 220,  the lower octave of A 440 , which re-sounds the vibratory pitch of invisible ultra-violet light at the top of the spectrum. This lower vibration moves down to a G Natural red at the root Chakra, which represents the grounding our bodies provide between the current of the Creative Process and the natural world of the Good Earth, which is a further extension of the continuum spectrum of energy as it manifests in shades of red and brown earth tones, and which provides the materials for the construction of the body temple.

   The invisible, inaudible Music of the Spheres begins to be made visible in singing flesh.  Perhaps there is a significant correlation, as we considered earlier, with the intonation of the pitch A 440 by the Concert Master in tuning the orchestra just before the conductor enters to start the music.  The symphony of each life expression begins with the pitch of A 440.  Everything we see external to ourselves is but a reflection and echo of the designs found throughout the anatomy and physiology of the body temple.  

    For example, one can “hear” with one’s inner ear a pre-sounding of the vibratory pitches in the various parts of the anatomy.  I feel it in the area around my heart as well while sharing attunement with someone.  This is how I know what pitch to tone when I wish to work with sound as a carrier wave during a healing session.   It is really quite simple and very accurate, as I have discovered, offering a profound influence of sound vibration to facilitate the healing process. 

The audible music that we compose and play or sing is but a reflection of the inaudible “music” that is always sounding and resounding in sacred tones throughout our bodies.  It is what we are. We are music and light flowing like water through cool air and congealing like gelatin in an icy mold.  It is all one continuous river of sacred energy vibrating at different levels of frequency making itself visible here and there as it flows through the lattice work of force fields shaping sacred space along lines of force as functional design is given to living flesh.

   While focusing the attunement current in the region of the Gonads, I invariably have a deep sense of the sacred nature of this seal.   Here is the very seat of holiness in our sacred anatomy, an altar of worship upon which is sacrificed and sanctified the very finest molecules from the atomic world so that they might make their ascent into the temple of light. One may be compelled, as I am, to sound a sacred “OM” with deep, resonant tones.  Tender essences surely rise from these holy vessels as incense before the throne of God in our living temples.

The Music of Christmas

“Silent night, holy night. All is calm. All is bright”

I wish it were so in the world this Christmas. But it’s not silent, nor holy. All is not calm. Neither is it bright, except for all the artificial lighting and cheerful shopping, stressful as it is.  

In the midst of all the rush and preparations of the Season, the saving grace for me is the joyful and peaceful music of Christmas. My favorite Christmas albums are Johnny Mathis’s 50th Anniversary Christmas Celebration and A St. Olaf Christmas in Norway with the St. Olaf choir.  The Mormon Tabernacle Choir presented a fabulous program a couple of nights ago on our PBS station. For me, it’s the music that carries forward the light of hope and love into the world at Christmas time.

Here’s an hour-long video of the St Olaf choir’s Christmas concert in Norway for your enjoyment.  I just love seeing our youth sing with such love for their beautiful heavenly music. Bonnie and I wish you all and each one a silent, holy, calm and bright Christmas and a Happy New Year. 

“Sacred Sound Field” Experiential

On Saturday evening we created what I have called a “Sacred Sound field” using four true-tone quartz crystal bowls placed outside the circles of some 40 attunement practitioners at the position of the Four Quarters. The bowls were a 14” B bowl, a 10” D# bowl, an 8” F# bowl, and an 8” B bowl. This combination of bowls created a sound field in the musical key of B Major, what I have designated as Crown Chakra and Pineal gland harmonics. This combination of bowls and tones included two B bowls an octave apart and the Major Third and Perfect Fifth notes of the B Major chord.

To move energy, I used two more bowls: a 10” D bowl to create a minor mode to bring energy up for resolution in a major chord, and an 8” E bowl to create an augmented chord for bringing energy down for resolution.

Technique used: silence the D# bowl and play the D bowl. Then silence the D bowl and return to the D# bowl for resolution of the minor mode to the major mode. Follow the same procedure with the E bowl.

While the bowls were being played, those sitting in the two circles explored sharing attunement within the Sacred Sound field. The ladies formed the inner circle and the men sat in the outer circle. Three chairs were placed in the center of the circles, turned to the left to create yet another circle in the core center of the “vesica” portal created by the sounds converging and crossing one another. In these chairs couples from the outer circles took turns sharing attunement for a few minutes, working with the first two endocrine glands.

While the bowls were being played, I had the men in the outer circle tone an OM in tune with the large B bowl while the ladies toned the Perfect Fifth harmonic in tune with the 8” F# bowl. A few of the ladies who were musically trained toned the third harmonic, moving up and down with me as I changed to a minor and augmented mode. At one point I asked the toning to stop while the bowls only were played, which many preferred.

Lloyd Meeker, the originator of the workshop, noted in the comment period that the playing  of the bowls alone had a more potent and clear impact than when accompanied by the toning. Other comments indicated that the experience inside the sacred sound field was delightful and uplifting. Paul Price, a master attunement practitioner and mentor, shared with me later on how he felt the sound field impacted the bio-molecular field as well as the quality of the energetic field.

I personally came away feeling fulfilled and satisfied with the exploration. From the comments, I felt re-affirmed in my intuitive sensing that Sacred Sound fields may facilitate our attunement work by shifting the cells of the physical body to a higher frequency of vibration while providing a harmonious sound wave for spirit and intention to move upon. The ultimate goal in this work is to help us in our transformational process and journey to lift our physical forms to a higher frequency, above the level of disease, so that they may become impervious to the lower frequencies and more available to the process of transmutation and ascension. I was satisfied and happy to hear that at least one person in her response “got me” on this core intent and purpose, which touched me deeply and nurtured my resolve to continue my exploration in the field of Attunement with Sacred Sound. I am equally thankful for the significant support and encouragement I receive from a few close friends and colleagues.

Creating Sacred Sound Fields

Creating Unified Sacred Sound Fields (excerpted from my book Attunement With Sacred Sound)

My Chorale PicThis is a powerful healing technique whereby two or three quartz crystal bowls are used to create a unified sound field with the recipient placed in the middle of the setting. This can be done with vocal toning as well where two or three individuals or small groups tone the designated pitches. A Vesica Piscis is created where the sound waves meet and overlap one another. The one sitting or lying down in the Sacred Sound Vesica may experience profound frequency shifts that may open a portal through which something entirely new may be born in consciousness, such as new revelations, new thoughts and creative ideas, even new patterns of healing and transformation in one’s physical and energetic bodies. This is the magician’s realm of expertise. Sound healing in its finest advanced application.

When a single tone is sounded, it sends out a spherical waveform. This waveform creates a “sound field.”

When two harmonious tones are sounded simultaneously, their sound fields overlap creating thereby a “third field.” This opens a vibrational window referred to as a “Vesica Piscis,” a unified sound field. I am calling this a “Sacred Sound Field.”

The Vesica Piscis is a vibrational portal formed by two overlapping fields of energy. It derives its name from its fishlike shape.  It has been called the “Womb of the Great Mother,” as it serves as a vibrational birth canal for a “third” waveform to come forth that may give rise to new thought and inspiration, leading to new and innovative creative expression.  This phenomenon demonstrates George Gurdjieff’s “Law of Three,” which I expand upon in my book Attunement with Sacred Sound.

We can create various unified harmonic sound fields using quartz crystal bowls. (I was not able to reproduce the color images from my book.)
  1. A “Perfect Fifth” sound field for healing can be created using two bowls that are tuned a Perfect Fifth apart in their tone. For example an A and an E bowl, or an F and a C bowl, etc. The colors in these diagrams are not true to the frequencies, but this gives one an idea of how two frequencies overlapping create a unified field with a different tonal quality.
  2. A more complex sound field is created by using three bowls whose pitches form a harmonious triad. For example F, A and C bowls. This combination of harmonic sounds is ideal for balancing the endocrine and chakra energy fields. As laid out in the chart on page 71, each pitch is assigned to a specific aspect of the sacred energy site with which one is working. Again, these colors are not true to the frequencies. One can get a sense, however, of how different tonal qualities are created by the overlapping sound fields.

Moving energy with sound

We can move energy by changing the pitch of the third harmonic up and down. For example, while working with the thymus and heart centers, using the F, A and C bowls, by changing the middle note A to an A flat or G sharp, we can dip down and connect with stuck dissonant energies at deeper levels in the heart where perhaps troubled feelings are being harbored. Then, by returning to the A bowl, we can resolve the dissonant energy back to a harmonious tone and thereby reclaim the energy being used to maintain troubled feelings, incorporating it back into the whole.

To bring sacred energy down from higher frequency levels, change the A to an A sharp then back down to an A. This technique can introduce fresh energy into the mix to energize the field and may even help shift the frequency of the body itself to a higher level.  These techniques can be used with all combinations of harmonic triads.

Extinguishing Fire With Sound

My Chorale PicI learned something today that turned on a light in my mind. Someone posted a video clip on Facebook demonstrating how fire can be extinguished with sound – a very low frequency bass sound. Here’s the demo:

Can you see how and why this works? Think about it for a moment. Fire results when atoms and molecules vibrate at a super high frequency, so high that they emit, or transmit, light so intense that it sets matter on fire. Now, the fuel in the skillet is already a high-frequency fuel, like gasoline or lighter fluid.  Add a little frequency boost with fire and the fuel immediately ignites, consuming the oxygen around it.

So how does the low frequency bass sound put out the fire? One possibility is by lowering the vibration of the fuel to such a low level that the atoms and molecules don’t burn.  In other words, fire results when molecules vibrate at a super high frequency. It would seem logical that if you lower the frequency at which they vibrate, they would stop burning. Another possibility is that the bass sound pushes the air with such a force that it blows the fire out. I am inclined to go with the first possibility.

I’ve been working with energy in my attunement with sound healthcare service for some forty years, researching the use of sound in healing for a book that is presently being released by Amazon: Attunement with Sacred Sound.  Being an energy and sound healer, I immediately saw how this phenomenon of sound extinguishing fire may work – (the first possibility above). You see, high frequencies increase the vibration of molecules whereas low frequencies decrease their vibration. This is why most of my clients love the lower frequencies of my fourteen and sixteen inch quartz crystal bowls. Their sound waves are calming. They put out the fire of anxiety, fear and worry, all high-frequency emotional and mental states.  They also calm down inflammation in the body that’s causing pain. I also use the high frequency sounds for fine-tuning the endocrine and chakra energy centers. After I’ve finished fine-tuning these energy centers, I finish with my fourteen-inch C quartz crystal bowl, which I use to attune the skeletal system along with the organs of the body. The low sound frequency is very grounding.

This brings up another way of looking at this sound healing technique, which is to see high frequencies as facilitating ascension to higher levels of being and low frequencies as facilitating a descent of spirit into fuller incarnation in the physical body.  In other words, low frequencies encourage and facilitate grounding, an essential aspect of sound healing, as sound has a tendency to lift one out of the physical and into a more spiritual state of being. Sound healing tends to be un-grounding — a word of caution to my fellow sound healers.

I like a comment a friend and colleague made about attunement on my FB post. He writes: “Attunement modulates and influences vibrational patterns , allowing a pattern that is out of control to return to it’s natural rate [of vibration].”  Sound can serve as a carrier wave for the attunement or healing current. Sound is a tool for creation.  Not just any sound, but sound that carries a tone and a wave form that is coherent and pure. What I am suggesting here is that music, harmonic sound, is a tool that can be used as a carrier wave for spirit in the healing and transformational processes.

I emphasize the word resonance in this work to remind us that we are not manipulating physical substance – or mental and spiritual substance for that matter – with sound. We are simply sounding a tone that may engender and give rise to a resonantresponse from within the person’s heart of hearts. It is the vibration of the resonant response within the individual – self or other – that does the ‘work’ in harmonizing and uplifting the vibrations of life in the tissue cells of the body.

“Old Turtle”

Martin, based on the book “Old Turtle” by Douglas Wood. It’s a powerful story and musical arrangement.  

The Masterworks Chorale of the Louisiana Choral Foundation will be in concert this coming Mother’s Day weekend: Friday May 9 at 7:30 pm. and Sunday May 11 at 3:00 pm.  The venue is St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church out on Country Club Road in Lake Charles. Come and enjoy some beautiful and deeply moving  music. 

Here’s the story of “Old Turtle”

Once, long long ago . . . yet somehow, not so very long . . . when all the animals and rocks and winds and waters and trees and birds and fish and all the beings of the world could speak . . . and understand one another . . . There began . . . an argument.

It began softly at first . . . Quiet as the first breeze that whispered, “He is a wind who is never still.” Quiet as the stone that answered, “He is a great rock that never moves.” Gentle as the mountain that rumbled, “God is a snowy peak, high above the clouds.”

And the fish in the ocean that answered, “God is a swimmer, in the dark blue depth of the sea.”

“No,” said the star, “God is a twinkling and a shining, far, far away.”

“No,” replied the ant, “God is a sound and a smell and a feeling, who is very, very close.”

“God,” said the antelope, “is a runner, swift and free, who loves to leap and race with the wind.”

“She is a great tree,” murmured the willow, “a part of the world, always growing and always giving.”

“You are wrong, ” argued the island, “God is separate and apart.”

“God is like a shining sun, far above all things,” said the blue sky.

“No, He is a river, who flows through the very heart of things,” thundered the waterfall.

“She is a hunter,” roared the lion. 

“God is gentle,” chirped the robin.

“He is powerful,” growled the bear.

And the argument grew louder and LOUDER and LOUDER . . . until . . . STOP!

A new voice spoke. It rumbled loudly, like thunder. And it whispered softly, like butterfly sneezes. The voice seemed to come from . . . why it seemed to come from . . . Old Turtle!

Now, Old Turtle hardly ever said anything, and certainly never argued about things like God. But now Old Turtle began to speak.

“God is indeed deep,” she said to the fish in the sea; “and much higher than high,” she told the mountains. “He is swift and solid as a great rock,” she said to the breezes and stones. “She is the life of the world,” Turtle said to the willow. “Always close by, yet beyond the farthest twinkling light, ” she told the ant and the star.

“God is gentle and powerful. Above all things and within all things. God is all that we dream of, and all that we seek,” said Old Turtle, “all that we come from and all that we can find.

God IS.” 

Old Turtle had never said so much before. All the beings of the world were surprised, and became very quiet. But Old Turtle had one more thing to say.

“There will soon be a new family of beings in the world,” she said, “and they will be strange and wonderful. They will be reminders of all that God is.  They will come in many colors and shapes, with different faces and different ways of speaking. Their thoughts will soar to the stars, but their feet will walk the earth. They will possess many powers. They will be strong, yet tender, a message of love from God to the earth, and a prayer from the earth back to God.”

And the people came.

But the people forgot. They forgot that they were a message of love, and a prayer from the earth. And they began to argue . . . about who knew God, and who did not; and where God was, and was not; and whether God was, or was not.  

And often the people misused their powers, and hurt one another. Or killed one another.  And they hurt the earth. Until finally even the forests began to die . . .and the rivers and the oceans and the plants and the animals and the earth itself . . . Because the people could not remember who they were, or where God was.

Until one day there came a voice, like the growling of thunder; but as soft as butterfly sneezes,

“Please, STOP.”

The voice seemed to come from the mountain who rumbled, “Sometimes I see God swimming, in the dark blue depths of the sea.” 

And from the ocean who sighed, “He is often among the snow-capped peaks, reflecting the sun.” 

From the stone who said, “I sometimes feel her breath, as she blows by.”

And from the breeze who whispered, “I feel his still presence as I dance among the rocks.”

And the star said, “God is very close;” and the island said, “His love touches everything.”

And after a long, lonesome and scary time . . . the people listened, and began to hear . . . 

And to see God in one another . . . and in the beauty of the earth.

“Sonic Geometry” and the . . . . “Music of the Spheres”

Tony Pics for SA BookThis is a fascinating video, especially for the mathematicians and musicians among us, as well as those of us who know  Sacred Geometry. For the mathematician, the presentation delves into numbers and numerical ratios that form the basis for structure and shaping of life forms in our world and throughout the Universe. For the musician, it presents the geometrical basis for the Pythagorean determination of note frequency values and the musical scale used here in the West. For those knowledgeable of Sacred Geometry, you’ll find nothing new here but you may delight in the clarity and simplicity of the presentation of the profound design behind all of Creation. For the rest of us who are not mathematically, geometrically, or musically inclined, we will find the video full of interesting and thought-provoking historical facts and developments that have led to consciousness evolution and our simple enjoyment of the beauty of form in the Natural world, and of music itself. 

As a musician, I must say that I came away from viewing this video with a deep sense of sadness and disappointment over the changes made to the note frequencies in our modern day musical scale which is based on A 440 rather than on the ancient and more natural A 432, as you will see in the video. I don’t know exactly what to make of it, as all the beautiful music of the Masters we enjoy so much today is written for instruments tuned to an A 440 based scale. So, I don’t know what we’ve been missing out on; perhaps ecstatic sounds and harmonies infinitely more beautiful, uplifting and transforming than even Handel’s Alleluia Chorus. I’ve heard piano music played on a piano that was tuned according to “just tuning,” which is based on natural harmonics as opposed to contrived “even tuning.”  The music seemed to rise to infinite heights and plunge to bottomless depth. What I mostly fear is that the masses are once again being manipulated and kept imprisoned by those who seek to limit the evolution of human consciousness for political power and control purposes. Why did the “powers that be” back then find it so necessary to change these frequency values used to create our music? And why by 8 hertz, the difference between 432 and 440?

Just for example, take the ancient Solfaggio frequencies of a six-notes scale (ut, re, me, fa, sol, la) used in ancient chants that put people in an ecstatic state of communion with God, rendering the priesthood unnecessary and more of an impediment to the realization of the literal meaning and purpose of religion (which means to bind hack to, in this instance to God) than a facilitation. They were banned by the Catholic Church and forbidden to be used. Fortunately, they have been re-discovered and returned to use in sacred sound healing schools and by alternative healthcare practitioners. I use them in my sound healing work. Their overtones and undertones have no top or bottom. In other words, they are not boxed in as though they existed independent of a larger range of frequencies, like the modern musical scale suggests. There’s no “do” (or in this case “ut”) at the end of the scale to close it off to further expansion into the inaudible range of frequencies, so as to produce a sense that one has arrived at the end of the music. There’s no end to the music of the Salfaggio frequencies. They’re open ended.

Don’t get me wrong or misinterpret my implications here. Classical and even some modern music can warm the heart and bring peace and solitude to one’s soul and inner terrain, even bring one to a state of ecstasy — or perhaps mesmerize and lull one into an oblivious state of utter tranquility and receptivity to subliminal encoded suggestions. Don’t think it isn’t done in elevators and shipping malls and via the music played in the background of TV commercials. But does it facilitate real transformation and ascension of consciousness? Can it lift one’s spirit to ecstatic heights of union with God? Possibly. Handel was said to have exclaimed “I have seen the face of God!” upon completing his Alleluia Chorus. But did it change his life here on earth? To see God is not necessarily to know God. So many of the great classical composers left us heavenly music while their lives were less than heavenly and harmonious. Their music rather seemed to have driven some of them mad, as did art for some artists, like Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, whom Kirk Douglas portrayed so dramatically in Lust for Life.    

I had a dream many years ago when I began to explore sacred sound as a healing modality. And in this dream I heard a chord that ascended and descended in ranges of frequency to infinity. It had no beginning and no end but encompassed both earth and heaven as a connecting chord — perhaps the mythical and mystical “Lost Chord.”  I head that sound again many years later during a workshop intensive I was presenting in Attunement with Sacred Sound at a retreat center in Corona, California. We were combining sacred harmonies with sacred energy, using sound as a carrier wave for spirit. Apparently the sacred energy of love took the harmonies we were toning and lifted them up to their natural tones and overtones to carry it upward and outward for world healing. Heaven and earth were definitely connected by the sound wave of harmony we were generating. It was as though we had generated a tangible and malleable substance — what we know of a “pneumaplasm” in the Attunement Field — fine enough for the spirit of Love to move through and flow down out of heaven into the earth . . . and I now begin to see, even as I write these words, that perhaps this is what has been taken away by mind-oriented and manipulative man by changes made to the ancient musical scale based on A 432. Just perhaps. I would love to see the restoration of the original tone frequencies based on Sacred Geometry. It was encouraging to hear that a movement is underway among musicians to tune guitars, flutes and other instruments to A 432.
